Uplifted presents music that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the power of music to transcend darkness with music to uplift the soul in troubled times.
The program will include:
Missa Brevis by Kodaly - written and premiered in the dark closing days of WWII Budapest;
Samuel Barber's stunning Agnus Dei - sacred text added by the composer to his well-known Adagio for Strings;

We are pleased to announce Chronos Vocal Ensemble's 2025-2026 Season Subscriptions!
With concerts on Nov 16, Feb 7, and Apr 26; we have another great series of concerts for our audience this year, inspired by centuries of music history and – as always – featuring Canadian composers and their work.All Saints' Cathedral in Edmonton is our venue again for this season, and we are delighted to present concerts in this space that is so well-suited to music for voices.
This is a very big year for the choir! We have been invited to Podium 2026 in Victoria BC, next May. This will anchor a first West Coast tour for Chronos.
We're so grateful to all the audience members, donors, sponsors and funders that provide us with the opportunity to make music and present our concerts.

In this final movement of an extended four movement work, Stuart writes that it "begins with an extended image of eagles coasting through the summer sky as friends are gathered down below, sharing food and drink together. Weaving together moments and themes from across the entire work, the piece ends by recognizing the connection we all share—between people, in nature, and across the Earth."

Teng recalls: "I started singing these lyrics that almost sounded like a hymn or a psalm, 'somebody hears you, somebody knows you.' But I guess because I'm not religious my brain immediately went to marketing databases and surveillance."

Coming up on Chronos' human heart (Sun Apr 27 - 7:30) is Vienna Teng's "Hymn of Acxiom."
A beautiful, unique - and increasingly creepy - work written from the perspective of a database, Teng's experimentation with a harmonizer has created a choral work that will stick with you.

Chronos' human heart on Sunday Apr 27 includes Eric Whitacre's glorious, heart-rending setting of Trent Reznor's "Hurt".
The piece was first recorded by Nine Inch Nails in 1994, but is better known to many in Johnny's Cash's 2022 cover.
