  1. CW: VicPol, election result

I feel a bit disconnected from those expressing great relief and happiness about the Victorian election result. I guess it's because I never thought the Coalition could win, but I had hopes and dreams for a hung parliament.

So rather than feeling relieved that Daniel Andrews is still Premier I'm contemplating all the work that needs to be done - for example to stop native forest logging and new gas projects.

A hung parliament wouldn't have solved all our problems, but it might have made it easier to get the changes we need.

    Anyway, direct action ahoy.

  2. CW: #vicpol #auspol

Very glad to see that the #Murdoch media's campaign to defeat Labor in the #VictorianElection failed in the end.

I don't want our media to be so dreadful and right now, they are. They're failing us by spreading misinformation, by being blatantly pro-right wing, in an era where we desperately need progressive action to combat what lies ahead.

  3. betting markets for #VictorianElection tightening again but interesting to note the Labour odds are barely shifting, which speaks volumes #auspol

  4. Voters who are COVID-positive and who miss the postal vote application deadline of 6 pm tonight, will still be able to vote via a COVIDSafe drive-through service.

  5. #victorianelection tightening. A few days ago #betting markets had the #coalition @ $10 and #VictorianLabor at an unbackable $1.06. It’s still labors to lose but stranger things have happened #auspol

  6. No-one in Victoria cares what Bevan thinks, so this fails the relevance test; and there are a large number of people with better-informed analysis, so it fails the value test too.

Basically, these sorts of political editorials are another artifact of outdated legacy media practices and should be binned. Especially, juvenile, trolling concoctions like this.

  7. CW: Victorian election micro parties guide

My friend Tim Carruthers writes a guide to the micro-parties for every election and I find it very helpful. We have similar views and values so warning: you're not going to like it if you vote for the Palmer United Party.

Sharing his guide for the Victorian election from Facebook here.

  8. CW: Victorian State Election/Far-Right Extremism

Yep, Dan Andrews is “so desperate” when he labels people who’ve previously done Nazi salutes at the Shrine of Remembrance as Nazis.

    No, he’s not.

Far-right extremism is on the rise and the Victorian Liberals are preferencing them.

Good on the Premier for calling that out.

  9. CW: The Victorian State Election and Rupert Murdoch’s constant conservative bootlicking

    Translation:

Axe pandemic laws: leave the state unprepared for and unable to act during the next pandemic.

    Abolish taxes: underfund services.

Unite Victoria: an empty sound bite. They’re not going to do that when they run bigot candidates who support gay conversion therapy and refer to First Nations people as “bloody aboriginal”.

Attack cost of living: they’d try. But their neoliberal approach never works - trickle down economics was a scam from the start, but conservatives like the Liberals and Nationals can’t let it go.

Also, I’m tired of Murdoch shoving this conservative propaganda in our faces.

In his papers, on SkyNews or FOX overseas.

    I’m over it.

It’s entirely bias and partisan, he’s trying to install the leaders he wants into the states and countries he reaches.
