  4. Since I was going to the Terminal City Tabletop Convention in Vancouver last week, I finally got around to writing up my rules changes to Oneonta Whist. It's a #Solitaire #TrickTaking #CardGame, that I think has an interesting decision to make with each hand. Over the past few years, it's become my favourite solitaire. As a bonus, I also included Cribbage Solitaire, another solitaire with interesting decisions in each hand.

  6. Hot on the heels of Texas Demons and Trifle, Sean Ross has dropped *another* game today: A double six dominoes may-follow trick taker with variable suit order called Pavlova boardgamegeek.com/blog/8985/bl

  7. One of my favorite new #cozy #tricktaking #boardgames, #ParkLife by Dylan Coyle, will be getting an expansion (the ⛈️Storm⛈️ expansion) via a BackerKit campaign that starts in [EDIT] about an hour!

If you enjoy trick-takers with crafty scoring, cozy art, and hedgehogs 🦔, I highly recommend you check this one out!

  8. #Solotober Day 7: #ParkLife!
Park Life is a new #tricktaking game by Dylan Coyle that is lightly themed around street vendors selling wares to park visitors.

I love the modern-and-cozy art, and the weather suits. The game has some neat mechanics that spice up the usual trick taking formula, and it’s even got a couple different solo modes. I’m not too skilled with trick takers though, so there have been no wins quite yet…

  9. @beesinspace it definitely goes over better with people familiar with (or interested in learning) about #TrickTaking #CardGames. If you want to play with someone new to Trick Taking games, it might be better to teach them the basic concepts with a couple of games of a simpler game like #Hearts or #Spades (both good games) and then move into #TheCrewTheQuestForPlanetNine.

  10. Played a bunch of other games as well.

    Trick of the Rails
    Chimera
    Potato Man
    魔界札 (Makaifuda)
    TRICKTAKERs
    Cho-Han Trick-Taking Game
    Politrickers
    きくり・ざ・ろっく!(Kikuri the Rock!)

Was a blast getting to play all of these. Highlights were definitely Cho-Han, Tricktakers, and Kikuri, but all were great.

  12. Another game with my wife of Enemy Anemone by @dnlnwmn from New Mill Industries with art from @thisnorthernboy after playing it four-player with the neighbours last night. 🙂👍 #TrickTaking #CardGames

  13. Twinkle Starship is a trick taker where you can modify the number you played by using little sticks (segments of an LED display). On case of ties, later played cards win.

Whoever wins the trick gets the sticks played in the trick to maybe use as points later.

You score if the number of starting sticks you didn't use is equal to the amount of tricks you won in which case you score the tricks and sticks you won. Can also get points for winning no tricks and using all your sticks.

It's always interesting to have bids which you determine during the hand. There's a lot of finagling you can do to try and dodge or grab a trick. But then so does everyone else.

There were quite a few times I thought I had played an unbeatable card only for someone to play a card and throw sticks on it in a way I had forgotten you could do. Assume that multiple plays will make it more interesting as I get to grips with it.

  14. Just got my copy of Cat in the Box! This was my must-try game at BoardGameGeekCon this year; it's a #tricktaking #game where all the cards in your hand are cats, but the color of each one isn't known until you observe (play) it.

Say you have a 7 - you can observe that it's a blue, red, yellow, or green 7. But if you've already observed that you don't have any yellow or blue cards and the red/green 7s were already played, you might cause a paradox...
