October’s #BoardGames play list looking good but a thoroughly disappointing #Solotober2024 - next year I’ll have to take all my annual leave & send the rest of the family on a month-long vacation so I have a chance to complete it!

#Solotober Days 27 & 28: Still no games…
Day 29 though: #Hunted Mining Colony 415 (by Gabe Barrett)!
I’ve been too busy to get many #boardgames into my schedule, but I did squeeze in this play yesterday! Mining Colony 415 is about 80% similar to its Hunted sibling, Kobayashi Tower, but the dexterity aspect streamlines the gameplay with a fun twist. I lost this game though by running out of time and by getting slain by an alien. Totally metal!

#Solotober2024 Día 24: Last Bastion
Juego cooperativo con modo solitario donde debes resistir oleadas de enemigos hasta que aparece el Boss final que debes vencer en un tiempo limitado. Es una evolución del Ghost Stories de temática medieval fantástica.
He conseguido enfrentarme al Boss, pero no tenía ninguna opción de vencerlo. Me encantan éste tipo de juegos, pero se me dan fatal.

#Solotober Day 24: #AgentDecker!
Really neat little solo game about infiltrating buildings, collecting information, and avoiding getting caught! It reminds me a bit of the Legendary Encounter games actually, but it definitely has its own flavor and challenge.

#Solotober Day 23: #Witchcraft!
Witchcraft is the excellent retheme/revamp of #Resist! It retains the basic gameplay of assigning hidden or revealed cards to tackle a challenge, but the big change here is that successfully completing challenges sways jurors to your favor, which is a necessary condition to win the game (and to end the witch hunt).

#Solotober Day 22: #Crystallo!
It would seem that Crystallo demands a bit more than a small side table for its dynamic gameplay, but I made it work! Managed to trap the dragon and collect a few treasures, earning the subpar but heroic “Impoverished Vanquisher” title. Makes for a great solo experience if you’ve got a bit of table space!

#Solotober Day 21: The *inhales* #Persona5 Fan-Made Board Game, a.k.a. the Persona 5 Phan Game!
This is a super cool solo/two-player game that is based off of the gameplay you’d find in the Persona 5 video game. It was originally available as a print and play, then it became a physical game for a while (the PnP is still available I believe). The game itself is very stylish like the reference game, and the tableau building, time-limited gameplay is a good challenge!

Gates (Gate and its expansion) is a delicious solo tower defense/deck builder of a game. Been way too long since I played this last, but it was minute enough to easily fit in the luggage for my trip!

Primera partida en solitario donde he perdido por un punto.
El juego funciona muy bien en solitario: partidas rápidas, tanto en preparación como tiempo de juego, necesita poco espacio para el despliegue y las variaciones en las mecánicas revalorizan las herramientas haciendo las mucho más estratégicas (al anular el dado de activación).

#Solotober Day 18: #Sagrada!
Another busy day, another digital game! The Sagrada app is excellent for quick plays, and Sagrada itself has proven pretty challenging to get a high score at, especially in solo mode. This “-28” that I got was my best out of 3 games unfortunately, haha.

#Solotober Day 17: #RollPlayer (once more)!
Decided to get another play in before I put it up, but this time I used some revised rules from SneakyPetey over on BGG to simplify setup and play solo mode more like a 2 player game (the monster is the “second” player!). It was a good change of pace, and I’ll definitely be using the easier setup rules going forwards!

Lo encontré muy barato (15€) para lo bonito y divertido que es.
Lo he jugado en solitario con el modo desafío porque los escenarios eran más exigentes. Aún así he conseguido hacer un documental "sobresaliente" sin ayuda de especialistas.

#Solotober Day 16: Freaky Frogs From Outaspace!
Here’s a really neat little #FriedemannFriese game where you play pinball! With cards! Each time I come back I need to take a couple mental notes about where the “ball” goes next after each card, but it’s easy enough to pick up. Like real pinball, I’m a bit terrible at it, but I really enjoy the gameplay!

#Solotober Day 15: #Nusfjord!
This quickly became one of my favorite solo games when I played it earlier last month, and it’s excellent multiplayer too!
The solo “campaign” is a nice challenge; you progress through 3 games, each time having fewer choices for your buildings, forcing you to consider what to leave for the next game.

He querido comenzar ésta 3ª semana con mi bebé, aprovechando que tiene modo solitario.
Me ha salido una figura cerrada bastante grande (77 piezas, solo cuentan las coloreadas, las blancas son para alinear) con la que he conseguido 492 puntos.
Me he visto obligado a cerrar antes de que salieran el resto de teselas marrones.

#Solotober Day 14: #GanzSchönClever (or #ThatsPrettyClever)!
…Yes, I’ve gotten a bit lazy playing a digital app, but it’s going to get worse: I’m going on a work trip next week. I WILL bring small games with me, and I may… play a duplicate at some point (gasp).

Anyway, I love this clever game and its combo-tastic gameplay! I’m not good at it per se, but I enjoy it. And having a digital version means lots of quick games at any time!

#Solotober2024 Día 14: ¡Brujería! (Witchcraft!)
Por fin llegó el paquete que esperaba desde jueves con el Faraway y este juego ilustrado por Albert Monteys.
El juego está chulo. Era mi primera partida por lo que he usado el set inicial recomendado con un veredicto de "no culpable".
La temàtica està muy bien y la mecánica no es muy compleja. Me ha recordado un poco al Viernes, pero con más despliegue.

#Solotober Day 13: #RollPlayer!
I don’t get this one onto the table very often (mostly because of the setup), but I quite enjoy it and end up playing at least a couple times each time. It’s as fun to see what you end up with as it is to try to get a high score!

Anyone have any experience bringing one of these characters into Roll Player Adventures? I’ve been interested in it, but the price tag is a bit steep.

I quite enjoy these small in-hand games (this and Dragons of Etchinstone are my two faves at the moment). Here my resource planning needed work, and I was left with all this fish and wood at the end (final score of 26).

#Solotober2024 Día 12: Herbáceas (Herbaceous)
He tomado prestado este juego de la ludoteca de Zas (el único modo que tengo de completar este reto sin repetir juego) que ya he comentado alguna vez en otro toot.
Me gusta mucho su estética de dibujo a lápiz que, parece, han tomado como imagen de marca.
El juego me convence más en solitario, permitiendo partidas rápidas sin mucho setup.

No lo había probado en solitario todavía y ha sido interesante.
He sobrevivido, pero han vencido los monstruos por puntos.
Me encanta como ajusta el orden de juego con los costes en tiempo.
No me acaba de gustar el sistema de combate (demasiado azar si no encuentras el combo bueno de personalidades y unidades), pero es resolutivo.

#Solotober Day 10: The Guild of Merchant Explorers (that’s way too long to make a hashtag)! This little game works very well as a solo game and is even more relaxing to play than Beacon Patrol.

#Solotober Day 7: #ParkLife!
Park Life is a new #tricktaking game by Dylan Coyle that is lightly themed around street vendors selling wares to park visitors.

I love the modern-and-cozy art, and the weather suits. The game has some neat mechanics that spice up the usual trick taking formula, and it’s even got a couple different solo modes. I’m not too skilled with trick takers though, so there have been no wins quite yet…

#Solotober2024 Día 7: Myrmes
Para cerrar la primera semana del solotober he escogido uno de mis juegos preferidos e infravalorado/desconocido: el juego francés Myrmes.
Un eurogame con mucha interacción (casi parece un 4X), donde debes sobrevivir con tu colonia durante 3 años (un poco más en solitario). En mi caso he sobrevivido 5 años.
