It's #solotober so my #bgstats are a little skewed towards #boardgames that can be played solo this month.
New to me were:
⭐ Fire! - which I was surprised I hadn't tabled yet, it's interesting and I really should try to work through the remaining levels
⭐ Quests over Coffee - cute, quick print and play. I only played with the base game and I do think it needs the extra cards to make it shine.
⭐ CYOA: House of Danger - is it better than its be with the book? Maybe? Pretty weird story though!
⭐ Manhattan Project: War Machine - I don't know that I fully understood any strategy here and my score certainly reflected that.
⭐ Art Frenzy: Symphony - I might be better at a rock version. Or anything more modern!
⭐ Railroad Tiles - certainly less inky than Railroad Ink. Think I'd need to play it more.
⭐ Rolling Realms - it was OK, but the lack of cohesive the,e didn't work for me
⭐ Small Islands - have played this before but never logged it seams. It's a cute tile layer
⭐ Next Station Paris - have played this quite a few times on BGA. Mixes up the Next Station formula nicely.
⭐ Aleph Null - another "Must have missed logging this before". I like the theme of this one, but I think I prefer the gameplay of Lux Aeterna more. I feel the game thinks I'm smarter than I am
⭐ Empire - Quick economic game that doesn't use too many components and an economical design -

With #solotober wrapped up and done, I give you October’s plays! I aimed for unique games each day, so there’s a lot of variety this time around. There were two more that didn’t fit: Palm Island (which was short and sweet) and Voidfall (which was long and savory).
My favorite #boardgames this month were Three Sisters, Witchcraft! (which I have yet to win), and Park Life!

#Solotober Day 🎃: #AlephNull
We’re cranking the thematics up to 11 with this one! Aleph Null is somewhat of a puzzle game about summoning the goatiest of devils, Baphomet. I’m not usually into these kind of puzzle games, but the bold theme got me interested. AND it’s by the same designer of Lux Aeterna, Tony Boydell!

That marks the end of #solotober. It was exhausting to keep up with the schedule, and to be honest some days I started the game more because I felt compelled to do it than because I wanted to. I ended up having fun every day still. It was a good way to discover some of the characters that I hadn’t played yet, and just that would have been worth if on its own. But this whole thing was more of a challenge than a celebration.

#solotober 2024 day 31: Mantis, Drax, Groot, Rocket Raccoon vs High Evolutionary (inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3)
I am Groot -
@nolando I already had my problems with #solotober (why not #soloctober?) I seriously doubt that #NeglectedNewvember is catchy enough.
But as a challenge you got my atention. -

To my #soloboardgaming brethren: hot off of the heels of #Solotober, a new solo #boardgames challenge in the form of #NeglectedNewvember awaits!
This is an opportunity to break out that one (or two or few) game(s) that’s been sitting on the shelf/in a box/in shrinkwrap for far too long and giving it some daylight/artificial lighting during the month of November.Details over on the Geeklist over at BGG: https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/341664

#solotober 2024 day 30: Ant-Man, The Wasp, Stature vs Kang (inspired by Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania)
The return of the tiny people! -
#Solotober Days 27 & 28: Still no games…
Day 29 though: #Hunted Mining Colony 415 (by Gabe Barrett)!
I’ve been too busy to get many #boardgames into my schedule, but I did squeeze in this play yesterday! Mining Colony 415 is about 80% similar to its Hunted sibling, Kobayashi Tower, but the dexterity aspect streamlines the gameplay with a fun twist. I lost this game though by running out of time and by getting slain by an alien. Totally metal!

First time playing with the oversized mini, exciting! -
#solotober 2024 day 28: Shuri Black Panther, Iron Heart vs Namor (inspired by Black Panther: Wakanda Forever)

#solotober 2024 day 27: Thor, Mighty Thor, Valkyrie vs Gorr (inspired by Thor: Love and Thunder)
Did you know that in French, love at first sight is « coup de foudre », which literally translates to “lightning strike”? 🔨 ⚡ 😍 -
#Solotober Days 25 & 26: No games played!
Traveled home from my work trip yesterday, and unfortunately I’ve been too exhausted to get a game in. Today’s busy too, but I’ll try to get back on the horse tomorrow and end the month with a strong finish. This #boardgames challenge has been a lot of fun, but lately it’s been stressful trying to keep the schedule amidst everything else. Always remember to keep your priorities straight and take care of yourself!

#solotober 2024 day 26: Doctor Strange, America Chavez vs Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver (inspired by Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness)
Unfortunately, no version of Scarlett Witch alone is available to me, so playing against the duo once again. -
#solotober 2024 day 25: Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Man 2099 (original suit) vs Green Goblin (inspired by Spider-Man: No Way Home)
Final spider-vilain. Can we bring Norman back to reason? -
#Solotober Day 24: #AgentDecker!
Really neat little solo game about infiltrating buildings, collecting information, and avoiding getting caught! It reminds me a bit of the Legendary Encounter games actually, but it definitely has its own flavor and challenge.

#Solotober Day 23: #Witchcraft!
Witchcraft is the excellent retheme/revamp of #Resist! It retains the basic gameplay of assigning hidden or revealed cards to tackle a challenge, but the big change here is that successfully completing challenges sways jurors to your favor, which is a necessary condition to win the game (and to end the witch hunt).

Another day another Spider-encounter -
#Solotober Day 22: #Crystallo!
It would seem that Crystallo demands a bit more than a small side table for its dynamic gameplay, but I made it work! Managed to trap the dragon and collect a few treasures, earning the subpar but heroic “Impoverished Vanquisher” title. Makes for a great solo experience if you’ve got a bit of table space!

#Solotober Day 21: The *inhales* #Persona5 Fan-Made Board Game, a.k.a. the Persona 5 Phan Game!
This is a super cool solo/two-player game that is based off of the gameplay you’d find in the Persona 5 video game. It was originally available as a print and play, then it became a physical game for a while (the PnP is still available I believe). The game itself is very stylish like the reference game, and the tableau building, time-limited gameplay is a good challenge!

#Solotober Day 20: #Gate / #Gates!
Gates (Gate and its expansion) is a delicious solo tower defense/deck builder of a game. Been way too long since I played this last, but it was minute enough to easily fit in the luggage for my trip!
#boardgames #solotober2024 -
#Solotober Day 19: #Desolate!
Another great #JasonGlover game, more push-your-luck exploration, but now in space! With aliens and diminishing oxygen supplies! Actually, how do the aliens survive without oxygen?
#solotober2024 #boardgames #juegosdemesa -
#Solotober Day 18: #Sagrada!
Another busy day, another digital game! The Sagrada app is excellent for quick plays, and Sagrada itself has proven pretty challenging to get a high score at, especially in solo mode. This “-28” that I got was my best out of 3 games unfortunately, haha.
#boardgames #solotober2024 -
#Solotober Day 17: #RollPlayer (once more)!
Decided to get another play in before I put it up, but this time I used some revised rules from SneakyPetey over on BGG to simplify setup and play solo mode more like a 2 player game (the monster is the “second” player!). It was a good change of pace, and I’ll definitely be using the easier setup rules going forwards!Link to the revised rules: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2897582/page/1

Played three cases of MicroMacro Crime City Full House.
My eyes aren't what they are when I played the first in this series (and playing solo I don't have the young eyes of my daughter).

#Solotober Day 16: Freaky Frogs From Outaspace!
Here’s a really neat little #FriedemannFriese game where you play pinball! With cards! Each time I come back I need to take a couple mental notes about where the “ball” goes next after each card, but it’s easy enough to pick up. Like real pinball, I’m a bit terrible at it, but I really enjoy the gameplay!
