  1. surrounding myself with folks who ALSO love speculating and mentally rotating ideas around is such fun!

no more "it's not that deep".

what if it IS? what if it COULD BE?

i love having friends who intellectually stimulate me

    Oil is power.

If alternative energies like Solar, Wind, and Water give power to more people, what does it do to those power bases?

What does it do to US and its policy in the middle east?

    Hmmm.

  3. I think my one fatal flaw may be that I'm a principled man trying to live in what often feels like an unprincipled world.

  4. Today's #Lent Without Borders newsletter features Rwandan doctor Dr Evrard Nahimana and he focuses his #reflection on solidarity in #healthcare:

"I strongly believe that solidarity rather than charity is the antidote to despair..."

Puts #solidarity in a new light and spins it into the realm of #affective responses / mitigation of negative feels. We can expand to #climate #anxiety, #political #despair, overwhelm etc.

I just got to the part in Heaven's official Blessing Volume 2 when the Chief State Preceptor asks Xie Lian if he remembers his answer to the riddle.

Question: "Two walked the desert about to die from thirst and there was only one cup of water. The one who drinks lives. The one who doesn't dies."
His answer "Give them another cup."

Too often we act as if resources are limited when we have the ability to give another cup. #mxtx

    I agree.
I occasionally try to go off line for long times, although I often fail.

I think it is the only way to compose long works. Your mind is like a cup constantly being filled by a trickle of water. If you pour out some every few minutes, you never fill the cup.

  7. Was reading that old fic you recced (How to fall in love with a catfish, archiveofourown.org/works/2402)when I hit this sentence.
" I look forward to seeing where the future takes you. Congratulations, graduating class of 2020.”

The last of his words are drowned out by the roar of hundreds of grads as they rise to their feet,"

Then I realized this was truly fiction, because in May 2020 there were no crowds rising to there feet...none anywhere.

What a memorable time we are living in.

  8. I was at a Christmas party/ building opening and I was rushing around, looking at all the shiny, shiny rooms, before they closed. I reached out to take a brownie off of the snack table that someone was in the process of cleaning up and one of the hosts asked me to "just leave".

So I left, and in my car, I had to take deep breaths because I felt hurt that she had told me to get out.
    Then I realized.

When I am excited or in an unfamiliar place, I am more sensitive to criticism. #thinkythoughts

  9. I have come to the realization that many, many people do not like the concept of equality and would rather have hierarchical systems of governance than flatter structures that are more free.
