Sahu et al. now report that pyrimidines influence the activity of pyruvate dehydrogenase, a key intermediary enzyme between glycolysis and the tricarboxylic acid cycle and respiration. Some ppl report improvement in chronic health problems with thiamine or d-ribose supplementation. I've always been wary of the latter due to concerns about cancer-promotion and also neurological harms, as D-ribose increases production of advanced glycation end products.
Thiamine seems to have a biphasic dose response with respect to cancer-promotion, at least in vitro.
