  7. #Gorgosaurus ( GOR-gə-SOR-əs; lit. 'dreadful lizard') is a #genus of #tyrannosaurid #theropod #dinosaur that lived in western North America during the #LateCretaceous #Period (#Campanian), between about 76.5 and 75 #millionYearsAgo. #Fossil remains have been found in the #CanadianProvince of #Alberta and the #USState of #Montana. #Paleontologists recognize only the #typeSpecies, G. libratus, although other species have been erroneously referred to the genus. Like most known tyrannosaurids.

An edit of some art I made last year, changed the colors to match bsky.app/profile/dinocrisponsf carno since it wasn't any particular character in the first place and he has a character of the same species/build. Also birthday :3

  12. Spinosaurus at the Munich Show 2024.

This special exhibition marked the first time that a skeleton of this enigmatic dinosaur went on display in Munich after the original specimens from the Bahariya Oasis of Egypt were destroyed during World War II.

  13. Tracks left by a bird-sized #dinosaur suggest it used wings to run faster phys.org/news/2024-10-tracks-l

#Theropod trackways as indirect evidence of pre-avian aerial behavior pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2413

"Because the tracks suddenly end, it is impossible to tell if the creature was taking off, landing or simply flapping wings as a means of land-based propulsion. Thus, it is not known if the dinosaur could fly. The possibility exists, however"

  14. A discovery of #dinosaur tracks in Australia — dating back to the Early #Cretaceous when Australia was still connected to Antarctica — indicates that large #theropod #dinosaurs thrived in this polar environment, prowling the river floodplains when the ice thawed during the summers.

The tracks indicate that these former polar environments supported large carnivores.

The large theropods would likely have fed on prey such as smaller dinosaurs, fish and turtles.
