#Barclay, the Health Minister, said on Monday that all retiring consultant doctors enjoy a tax-free pension.
This attempt to castigate their legitimate wage demands, framing them as being well off, is fallacious. All pensions are subject to taxation.

Having spent the last few days surround by the incredible NHS staff of my local hospital I honestly can’t imagine being without them and find it absolutely disgraceful how they have been treated and underfunded over consecutive UK governments.

Throughout the #Covid pandemic, #nurses, more than any other occupation, died at a faster rate.
They cared and tirelessly looked after our own loved ones all the while their friends and colleagues were passing.
For these courageous people to be denied a basic wage increase by a Conservative government of millionaires is both obscene and shameful.

Last night polling (by Ipsos) found that 54% if the population support the #JuniorDoctors strike.... the Q. is how will this play out during the week?
The media will try to demonise the Junior Doctors, but the problem is that the idea that junior doctors are greedy, does not stack up well against a government of millionaires (and millionaires' friends) & this is a circle it may be hard to square for even the right-media.

Just had some joinery done on my shoulder in a 3.5 hour op. The theatres were full even though it's the weekend.
I can honestly say every single NHS person has been polite, welcoming and professional as they work to reduce the backlog.
It's been an exceptionally positive experience and these people should be paid much more than they are.
As a high earner I would welcome a tax rise to ensure everyone continues to get this kind of service.
