No Man's Sky takes a long while to install, being so huge. Surprising that it runs at all on this stand-alone headset really but five frames a second or so isn't going to work for me no. So we need the Vive there still until streaming can work at least.

The Steam Frame arrived.
Not a great experience so far really.
The Wifi-dongle that brings 6G streaming doesn't currently work on Linux V6 kernels. Which is what Debian has.
Apparently Windows is the only thing fully supported really. Internet doesn't even sound that optimistic about the Steam Machine though it ought to at least work once I have one of them.
Streaming from the linux box is mostly unsuccessful during this lunch break here. Slow to start and timing out, slow to get going. Presumably partly coz only 5G wifi.
Controllers feel light and shoddy, aren't tracked particularly well. Pistol Whip scores well down due to the dropping frames and the terrible tracking of the aim.
Overall seems worse than the Vive at 30 minutes or so of playing with it.
Hope they improve it I guess, and streaming might work better once there's a machine with a V7 linux kernel compatible with this wifi dongle in the house.
Fairly comfortable to wear, though the foam attached by magnets comes off too easily as you don or remove the headset.
Sadly, this is not currently a machine which beats Facebook's Quest3 at all.
Have tried to install Alyx and Doom VR on it directly. Can't tell how that goes till after work now really.

The #SteamFrame uses IR cameras for passthrough visuals (there's an optional colour camera peripheral) which took me some getting used to but now I find fantastic.
In darkness, the headset uses IR illuminators so you can see in the dark. That means you can sit in the dark with zero light leakage — and wander around in total darkness while seeing fine.
This was in my bathroom in total darkness with the illuminators on. My screens are pinned where I was sat in my living room.

VR-owy dziewic here! Dotarł #steamframe i zaczynam się bawić. Przyszło fajnie zapakowane, ale spacera to szukałem dobre kilka minut. Mam astygmatyzm, dlatego obraz nie wydaje mi się do końca ostry i na brzegach widzę rozszczepianie się białego światła na czerwony/zielony, ale jeszcze pokombinuję, może okulary spróbuję założyć. Może są ustawienia do tego..
Mega lekki i poręczny hełmofon, dobrze leży, nie ciąży. Pograłem chwilę w Space Pirate Trainer i tak mi się micha cieszyła.. :-) super uczuć „być w VR”. Instaluję inne tytuły, które mam, powolutku je sprawdzam, a gdy dziatwa wróci ze szkoły to pewnie oni będą wiedzieć więcej o tym sprzęcie niż ja.
Na ten moment nie widzę większych problemów. Trochę jeszcze nie orientuję się jak włączać laserowe wskaźniki, które miałem przy setupie. Szkoda też, że muszę zdejmować VR, żeby coś podejrzeć na ekranie telefonu/monitora, kamerki nie są do tego stworzone.

If you're wondering how Valve is doing... well, my friend's Index flat-out died while he was in VR. I literally witnessed it die.
Combined with my Steam Deck battery problem and another friend's Steam Deck breaking, was the burnout I had with Valve stuff justified? I do hope the Steam Frame has better QC.
