Almost 2 years ago I started planning federated Starter Kits. @Mastodon took the idea, turned it into a FEP, and built it with my feedback rather than around it.

It shipped in @loops this year. Mastodon shipped Featured Collections months later.

Just shipped a Loops Starter Kit bug fix that prevented Mastodon collections from working properly, I've also filed a bug on their side to resolve this as it will likely affect other software.

By default, you have to approve or reject every request, but you can easily opt to auto-reject all, auto-approve all, auto-approve from Kit creators you follow, or only allow Kit creators you follow to send a request.

Loops Starter Kits only support local account at the moment, as I was waiting for Mastodon to finalize their spec so we can maintain full compatibility.

Working with @dave from the Mastodon team has been amazing, and I'll be adding remote account support this weekend.

Isn't it amazing how projects like Loops and Mastodon can work together to the benefit of everyone.
