UPDATE: now you can authenticate with your Mastodon account on and pick which of your Collections to add to the directory.

@cliffwade @poleguy @mackaj @Mastodon OK thanks for clarification. I have never encountered this collection thing before. And I'm not fully convinced yet, that muting normal words to avoid a rare encounter of something is a good strategy, but I will not tell people what to do.
However using #mastodonCollections is not my favorite, because it's extremely long and it implies that no other fedi services could use collections (even if right now mastodon is certainly the only one)

How much have people begun to use the new Mastodon collections feature so far? What is the hashtag or similar place to see collections that people have made - I've found #collections and #mastodoncollections hashtags so far but it feels... a bit quiet.
It's a bit unfortunate there seems to be no other way of discover public collections. Would be nice to have a way to see ones made by people on my local instance at least, even if there is no federated discovery.

To me #mastodoncollections is a failure. I can't create any collections since the feature "respects the integrity" (bunny ears) of users who are unfamiliar with Mastodon and don't know the setting exists tucked away in the web ui.
I wanted to create a collection of social democratic accounts. No can do, buddy boy.Its for creating collections of power users who are up to date with the latest features. I just don't get why it can't be opt out instead of opt in.

It seems as if you can only add at most 25 people (accounts) to a Mastodon Collection.
Having Mastodon Collections is awesome!
But, a 25 account limit makes certain types of list tough.

I think collections/starterpacks could be really helpful driving the discovery of content published on platforms like WordPress or Ghost.
Wonder if support is already planned in the WP ActivityPub plugin for example @pfefferle?
