My session notation sigils for "#Ironsworn: #Starforged" #solorpg
https://akavel.com/starforged-sigils
They cover a variety of technical terms/concepts, that I found I use commonly in my journaling of this game. Aaaand they help make my journals pretty and mystical and cool! I found it's in fact quite important to have things be fun and pretty to help me sometimes manage to get myself to actually play a solo game...

Voyages of the Vigilant: An Ironsworn Starforged Campaign, Pt. 4
Alright, so it's been a minute since the last post I wrote about Eveline Hawking and the Vigilant. If this is the first you've seen me mention this solo campaign I've been running you can catch up with the earlier posts too: Part 1, Part 2. We last left Eveline Hawking aboard the Rookery, speaking with a figure from her past. She just discovered that the electromagnetic storms she flew through on the way to the ship were caused by an artifact. Attempt to Save the Rookery Eveline steps over […]https://alexanderkeane.com/2026/04/10/voyages-of-the-vigilant-an-ironsworn-starforged-campaign-pt-4/

You know it's a great game when, after the first tabletop roleplaying session, our characters have:
* failed everything we tried to do;
* got trounced by a gang of pirates;
* been marooned on a desert planet with a couple of leaky water canteens, a direction to walk, and a dream;
and everyone's coming out of it feeling super pumped and cheering HELL YEAH to each other. :neobot_laugh:

Voyages of the Vigilant: An Ironsworn Starforged Campaign Pt. 2
When we last left Eveline Hawking, she had received a distress signal from an old mentor. She'd tried to quickly get her ship launched to help but the breakers in the engine impeller had kept her grounded. More Complications with Takeoff After her experience with the breaker in engineering, Eveline decides she needs to go fast by going slow and making sure everything is checked and proper. Unfortunately, while checking her work with the first launch attempt, Eveline realizes that her […]https://alexanderkeane.com/2025/12/22/voyages-of-the-vigilant-an-ironsworn-starforged-campaign-pt-2/

I decided to edit the journal of an Ironsworn Starforged campaign I'm running for posting on my blog.
This is Voyages of the Vigilant
I imagine Eveline Hawking as like a Kaylee Frye or Cally Henderson type character, elbows deep in her ship.

Voyages of the Vigilant: An Ironsworn Starforged Campaign Pt. 1
Introduction to the Forge In the distant future, humanity has fled its homeworld and taken refuge in the Forge, a globular cluster situated 1,700 light-years above the galactic plane. Generations ago, interdimensional beings possessed the dead of Earth and turned them against their friends and their families. When the situation seemed its bleakest, an iron pillar was discovered on Luna pointing humanity to mysterious gates among the stars. Exodus ships left Earth and passed through the […]https://alexanderkeane.com/2025/12/15/voyages-of-the-vigilant-an-ironsworn-starforged-campaign-pt-1/

@FullyAutomatedRPG DEAL (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/442030/deal-a-social-combat-roleplaying-game-in-a-cyberpunk-city), but I don't know if it's mechanically chunky enough to satisfy your needs.
To determine that, we'd actually have to have a bit more understanding of what they imagine the resulting play to look like because, as described, anything with a task/situation resolution mechanic would satisfy your question. However, I suspect that's not really what you want to know.
My personal inclination is toward mechanical systems which are built off of complication-inducing mechanics like you find in Blades in the Dark / #Starforged , where partial successes move you toward achieving your stakes but introduce complications along that, which themselves can be inspired by random oracles or the immediate fictional situation.
It's a shame that #Capes (https://www.scribd.com/doc/267134818/Capes-Corebook) is so hard to get into your hands because I've always thought it would provide a perfect game system for dealing with legal entanglements, given the way that players introduce their own conflicts in the course of play — but it hasn't been particularly easy to access in a long time. Total shame.
Suggesting Sea Dracula (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/55263/sea-dracula) goes without saying but only with a valid understanding of the amount of psychic damage that would then ensue.

I'm not sure if it's horrifying or hilarious to see #MCDM effectively re-implementing #PbtA mechanics and doing everything except actually slapping "Powered by the Apocalypse" on the cover.
That's not actually true. It's deeply hilarious, especially since Dungeon World has existed since 2012 ...
...and Fantasy World since 2020, both of which fairly intense manifestations of the PbtA mechanics into pretty traditional fantasy settings.
https://unplayablegamesrpg.itch.io/fantasy-world
It very much feels like they are playing catch-up with one of the most popular non-D&D game development lines going, except making their Moves more focused on man-to-man skirmish combat rather than Theater of the Mind.
That's not necessarily a terrible thing; I've certainly been sitting down and doing some back of the envelope figuring to work out whether it's possible to do minis-focused combat using #Starforged the last little bit.
(NARRATOR: It appears to be.)
It's just very strange to see how far this mechanical architecture has percolated in the last decade.
MCDM and #Daggerheart taking up a PbtA influence is really quite the thing to behold.
It would be a true irony if it ended up driving more interest in PbtA/FitD-lineage games and away from themselves simply due to introducing the core concepts.
