I think that two of the Hobbits have ventured out on their own as of yesterday. Smeagol was only with two of them all yesterday.Technically it is fall, so this would be the time they should be heading out, though I do hope they are old enough. It does mess with my naming plans, though. The remaining ones would have been been giving the Peregrin and Meriadoc names, but that does no fit when they have Smeagol hovering over them.

My dad got to meet one of the Dimensional Shambler Hobbits today. My plan to herd them back over to the north end of the yard while the Gentlemen boys ate in the hopes that the hobbits would return in time so that my dad could see them worked spectacularly! He got to see all 4, and one even walked within 3 meters of him, walking up the hill most of the way until it realized my dad was there.

I have the 5 Shamblers right where I want them at the moment. The Hobbits have finally started reacting to me somewhat independently of Smeagol, which has allowed me to herd them around the yard sometimes. Bit tricky as it requires successfully herding Smeagol via the act of herding a hobbit. The hobbits will only leave if she leaves, which is very understandable.

I am going to be very annoyed at my stomach if the remaining people I need to show pictures of the Hobbits climbing around were scheduled at pulmonary rehab today.

I can finally sometimes intimidate the Hobbits. Before, I could only get them to move through Smeagol. Now, I can back them out of the yard if needed.
Of course, this is likely a battle I will slowly lose with at least one of them, especially after independence from Smeagol. But, it is perfect to have right now as Carl(Gauss) integration is being worked on.

Jasper "very helpfully" stood guard with me at the north end of my backyard to prevent the invading Dimensional Shamblers from coming over the wall(fence) while handsome Dorian ate. Thankfully, I was able "intimidate" the Hobbits mother, Smeagol Shambles, so they were on their best behavior.

Visited by a guest raccoon today, a rather large one in the belly. A bit to late in the season for anything but a raccoon who has found a regular stash of food. I asked for a name, but was refused.

Smeagol fell for the "throw stick to other side of yard " trick for the first time in months. Very useful relocation technique that I will have to be careful about using. Don't have a ton of those that still work.

Good pulmonary rehab day today. Increased leg curls to 120 lbs, with plans to bump of arm and bike exercises next time. Plus, more importantly, the list of people who I have been waiting to show the new raccoons to has finally decreased by 1. Last saw her 2 weeks ago, and my session rest period happened to occur at the same time she wasn't helping anyone.
Only one person left who I absolutely need to tell.

My introduction to them went about as smoothly as I expected. I knew it wasn't going to be like last year, everyone immediately trying to hide. Technically, Smeagol did motion them all to "hide" in the tree, an understandable action. However, that tree was right in front me me, and she didn't do anything to threaten me when I got a little closer to try to get a better pick. Quite difficult at the moment as kits do not STAND STILL.

Introducing the 4 new Dimensional Shamblers, the children of Smeagol Shambles and named: Frodo, Samwise, Meriadoc, and Peregrin. I have been expecting this moment for a while now, ever since I got hints in early July. Unlike Smeagol, these 4 didn't sneak out early, only showing up for the first time about an hour ago.

The Dimensional Shamblers latest trickery: Inspector Clouseau has finally become more accepting of human involvement in his breakfast, and Smeagol has taken notice. Since I no longer have to worry about the Experience Gang running out of the yard with too much ruckus, I have been able to avoid giving out distraction peanuts. That is not the case with The Inspector, and Smeagol has noticed. She appears at nearly the same time he does, almost every day.

I really appreciate that I can count "chasing" Smeagol as excersise for the sake of my pulmonary rehab. I also appreciate that they don't use my exact words in my medical records. I wish it could be so, but I don't want to risk the chance of some reading more into it than they should.

In raccoon news: the magnets came today, and I attached them to one of the bowls. Going to cut up an apple and wait for her to come out when the handsome gentlemen are mostly elsewhere(handsome gentlemen Jasper and Soda are likely always close by now) and see if she tries to take the bowl.

While I was not overly thrilled that the rain meant I still had a Dimensional Shambler wandering about after sunrise, and not in bed like she was supposed to be, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get a rare pic of Smeagol Shambles in daylight. Despite her soggy appearance, rainy days are always Smeagol's favorite!

Adding to this: this was after I unintentionally scared everyone again. I was out feeding X22, and warding off Dimensional Shamblers, when Jasper and the Black Cat approached from the east(the hill). My attempts to herd Smeagol away long enough to allow the kitties to pass ended with everyone running away. Thankfully, they all came back from the west side, which makes it easier to wrangle Shamblers.

It has been raining on and off all night, but these two boys have been able to stay dry AND get all the food they need. Probably helped a lot that Smeagol, the Dimensional Shambler, is cuckoo for cocoa puffs when it rains. A nice shower, and probably at least one bath in the muddy ditch underneath my living room window.

My Soda Pop very helpfully tested the durability of my new motion sensing lights. Still need to verify they are Dimensional Shambler proof, but that will have to wait for tonight.

Got her distracted enough towards the north that I could turn around to play with Soda again... and there was the Dr. Professor at my door. Got some more playtime in before Smeagol had to be wrangled again. By the time Euler had finished eating, I was very surprised that Inspector Clouseau hadn't shown up. I suspect he did, but noped out when he saw everything.

Then, Smeagol appeared, and I moved out into the yard to distract her, while attempting to play with Soda. I had distracted her long enough while Soda was checking out my bedroom window that I was able to focus on the porch again, and X22 was there, staring at Dorian. I decided to put out more food as Dorian decided to grab a drink. By the time I had put it out, Smeagol needed to be wrangled again.

CW: Somewhat gross, what nothing to worry about
Was a tad worried when I walked outside for cat concierge service as there were two tiny partial footprints next to the doormat that were definitely not water. I worried it was Smeagol, as that is where she has climb-jumping down onto these days(from not very far up). When no one seemed injured, I remembered that the bad camera points there. Turns out, Smeagol had just stepped on a very squishy worm...
