I keep adding games to the Hermits Club collection on @itchio

Can't tell how many I added and how many there are still to add, but well, I can say about 1/5 of released games are solo ones! Most are journaling ones.

Currently adding games released in 2023 July. (Remember I'm back from an 8+ months gap). I'll keep going!

@PaulCzege Interesting question. Where do people have to talk about it to know it's hit critical mass? How many influencers did it take? Are there even solo influencers? Geek Gamer is the only one I know of that might qualify.

And what defines critical.mass? When you sell a certain number of games a month?

#SoloClub I'm finding that playing solo rpgs using the MGME is rather slow. Like, one scene that would take 10 minutes in a normal game takes an hour slow.

Do yall have recommendations or games that speed things up?

This reminds me of all the time I spend generating Traveler characters, the stories that played out in my head as I generated their careers.

Part of the goal here was to have a solo campaign that I could carry around with me and pick up in spare moments, so keep that in mind if some of my decisions seem odd. Here's my kit:

I thoroughly enjoyed that, by the way. It's inspired me to return to Ironsworn and Hypercity and try sologames again. I'll have to work on my dialogs, though.

I've tried playing a few journaling Wretched and Alone games, and a short run of TYOV, but I'm starting to look at a few of the more Traditional "Oracle" games like Cepheus Solo or Alone in the Dark. I got a question for #soloClub --
What do y'all do to get over the rut of just *starting* your solo game? I'm not talking beginning a new system or experiencing a solo RPG for the first time.

I mean: sometimes it's very hard for me to get in a good mindset to just *sit down and play*.

I'm easily distracted; and then when I find "ideal" conditions I often question if I should be doing something else 😂

A little experiment:

If you want to discuss solo TTRPG play, follow the #soloClub hashtag.

Use the hashtag to:
:d4: Ask advice about solo play.
:d6: Talk about how you play.
:d8: Point out interesting game/setting features.
:d10: Relay short anecdotes about your gaming.

When you see the hashtag, regard it as a request for discussion.

The hashtag is a shared resource, so don't abuse it. The point is to build conversation about play, so please don't use it for news, promotion, or long threads.
