A couple of weeks ago I shared that I had searched "Outer Gods" for this WIP.
I've decided to couch my eldritch entity in Christian terms and iconography for very specific reasons. I haven't settled on using Leviathan yet, but the connection between the deep sea and deep space is obvious. -
Unsure what all this cosmic horror stuff I keep talking about is?
Well, I've got a little bit of a primer here.
The TL;DR is that it's a mashup of scifi, horror, fantasy, and weird fiction...But that description barely scratches the surface of the reality.

The town in my WIP cosmic horror novel--Jeffry, California--is a fictionalized version of Clayton, CA, nestled in a cleft of Mount Diablo, and where I grew up.
I'm placing Jeffry to the north and east of Clayton, on the ruins of the real-life Nortonville ghost town--a remnant of the defunct Black Diamond coal mines.
It'll be just to the west of where it says "Rose Hill" under the "Diablo" title on the topographical map.

Things are falling into place for this cosmic horror WIP. The broad strokes are taking shape. The basic 8-point outline I start with is coming together faster than I expected (and far more detailed than usual, with plenty of character arc stuff already baked in).
I think I may be starting my ring outline as soon as next week.
