  1. Mt Ranier

To get out of the smoke from a fire in Canada I drove up to Mt. Ranier.
It just wasn't meant to be though. As I drove up the mountain I could see that the smoke hadn't cleared. I pulled over along the roadway near the Naches Trail and captured this image. I actually liked the way the smoke formed a frame around the peak of this amazing mountain.

  6. Distant Ridge, Dusk. © Copyright 2023 G Dan Mitchell.

A distant ridge in dusk light, viewed from a high point in Death Valley Naitonal Park.

This was just about the final photograph that I made at this location high in Death Valley National Park’s Black Mountains. I had arrived here well before sunset, remaining to photograph the light transition... continues: gdanmitchell.com/2023/02/16/di

  7. Mt. Cook, NZ

After a day of driving through very low clouds to get to Mt. Cook in New Zealand, I still had not seen the Mountains.

But once the clouds and fog had lifted, I stepped out onto my balcony, and was finally presented with a spectacular view, but the light was not right, and I to waited until morning to capture this shot before even leaving my room.
