  1. I have a confession. I am not a real #Tolkien fan; I read the #Silmarillon as an audiobook.

  2. I'm thinking about having my pantheon be about that, sort of how in the #Silmarillon the original sin was "a talented prick made the coolest thing, but decided no one else deserved to work with them and got obsessed with protecting their intellectual property".

Melkor got pissed that he had to compromise his vision with the other Valar when making Arda, Feanor got waay too proud of his Silmarils, Sauron got litigious about his ring-lore IP, and so on. It's a really good message for a #ttrpg

  3. But he that sows lies in the end shall not lack of a harvest, and soon he may rest from toil indeed while others reap and sow in his stead. Ever Melkor found some ears that would heed him, and some tongues that would enlarge what they had heard; and his lies passed from friend to friend

  4. Out of the deeps of Eä she came to the aid of Manwë; for Melkor she knew from before the making of the Music & rejected him, & he hated her, & feared her more than all others whom Eru made.
    ...
Elves hold Varda most in reverence & love. Elbereth they name her & they call upon her name out of the shadows of Middle-earth, and uplift it in song at the rising of the stars.

  5. LE SILMARILLION !

    Le-Sil-ma-ril-lion !

  6. Watching #RingsOfPower with my boys, and we just got to episode 5, the one with the #mithril, and the Song of the Roots of Hithaeglir, and…

Nope. Just nope. I don’t like it. Don’t like it one bit.

I’m tentatively digging the way they’re interpreting The #Silmarillon, and Galadriel is pretty dope, but tying mithril into the story of the Silmarils is so counter to canon that it’s staggering. #LotR
