It's a temporary solution, but my new bedside table is a whole ass bookshelf because my TBR blew up after my birthday! 😅
I eventually want something with one less shelf and a drawer at the bottom, because my original table is just out of the picture on the right. 😬

Leí un artículo de divulgación, no recuerdo donde, que explica la razón de seguir comprando libros que no leemos. Básicamente es que la recompensa no solo llega al leer. Nuestro cerebro se anticipa a la recompensa. En japones hay una palabra para ello: #tsundoku.
Esto se puede extender, perfectamente, a los videojuegos; sea cual sea el medio de distribución. No pocos compramos cuando tenemos una considerable pila de juegos por jugar.

It's been a while since I raced through a book in two days, but this is a gripping read. J.M. Coetzee's Disgrace, the Booker Prize winner from 1999, has been knocking around my house for several years now. I don't know why I was afraid to pick it up.

@seanalan I have the CD's via ILL that should be on the way. Kinda have a firehose 168 #Tsundoku problem here but will listen to while in transportation transit.
Looks to have lots of author in the
collection. On the audio side there appears to be four narrators.Woot, woot on listing some books and being active on the ActivityPub. Apparently another more recent post is 1,000 for you, colleagues that way have called you the Mastosean.

I'm a collector of books . . . #tsundoku is a habit of mine . . . but I seldom read any of them. 🤷♂️
It's not like I don't have the time but I usually only read a book while listening to music in front of one of my stereo systems & I haven't done much of that lately. 🤷♂️
The book that I've been trying to read for a 2nd time for the past year is #Shogun but still haven't gotten around to it & just keep avoiding it. 🤷♂️

I got back from holidays in Cyprus early this morning and just now finished reading Bitter Lemons of Cyprus, which outlines the author's years there in the 1950s. Published in 1957, it gives a lot of background to the complicated political landscape of Cyprus, particularly in regard to the war there in 1974 and the continuing partition.
Has anyone read it? Any recommendations on anything else on the topic? Brb, jumping down a wiki rabbit hole.

Your pending pile (your books-to-read pile) is contributing to your well-being.... it represents an anticipation of pleasure to come & as such sports good mental health.
Just as well as my pending pile of books never goes down (yes, that's my problem in buying more books that look/sound interesting).

Ich hab wieder Bücher gekauft, unter anderem das von Magda Brinkmann empfohlene Meeresdunkel von @tillraether Bin schon gespannt, denn habe schon lange keinen Thriller mehr gelesen, und da Gute zu finden, ist echt schwer.
Und es ist mein erstes Buch, bei dem der Rand der Seite bedruckt ist und es kein Goldrand ist.
Ansonsten noch ein paar Klassiker 🥰
Arsène Lupin auf Deutsch, Wuthering Heights, The Picture of Dorian Gray und Jane Eyre jeweils auf Englisch. -
@MrBerard my spouse helps me with this Tsundoku thing by piling up the books I leave around the house next to my bed, in addition to my own activities around Tsundoku.
There is more than one pile now, probably my because one pile would simply fall.

I picked up my IKEA bookshelf yesterday (BAGGEBO easily fits in a Prius, without even adjusting the front passenger seat), put it together this morning, and now all of my #tsundoku books are no longer piled up on the floor! 📚 (Library books get the prime spot, in the shelf on my desk.) And there’s even a wee bit of extra space!? Next step: plants! 🪴❤️
