  1. In 2009, I rescued more than 100 random old books from a skip. Still have 45 of them to sell or give away: proseandpassion.blogspot.com/2

might put them up on #freegle later. #oxford #antiquarian #oldbooks

  2. I've come to the conclusion that this collection of #Schiller's #poetry was printed while the author was still alive, which boggles my mind a bit. I also managed to cobble together a plausible provenance proseandpassion.blogspot.com/2 #oldbooks #antiquarian #familyhistory #antiques

  3. #Book #heaven #Berlin

    the old #antiquarian #book store #Hennwack has reopened in #Steglitz, as a staff-led #cooperative -
antiquarian and new books, day-to-day order service, café -
    a great place for #booklovers.

    online orders too

so far only on old social media - but we talked about how the #fediverse could be much better for a place and team like them.

    Pls boost to show them!

  4. I discovered an obscure novel from 1914 about the life of a #stradivarius #violin. Some characters are fictional but quite a few of the musicians in the novel are historical, so I wrote out a timeline for it. proseandpassion.blogspot.com/2 #bookreview #antiquarian #GermanLiterature #stradivari #Tartini #Paganini #Veracini #Corelli

  5. Slowly updating fromoldbooks.org/books-for-sal books for sale page.

I am not a bookseller by trade, but have accumulated hundreds of books over the years, and there are too many. The strategy is to try and sell exceptionally interesting ones first and maybe have money for groceries, too!

Some of these i bought to study the layout and typography (e.g. the Four Gospels fac simile). Which i did.

  6. The joys of pre-ordering - I ordered this months ago, forgot all about it, and today, through the passage of time, it arrives, almost as if it had waited until I was old enough, and wise enough, to read it. And worth the wait it most certainly was. Take a bow @weird_walk 👏🧙‍♂️

  7. Forgive the plug for the other place but for this #Stukeley300 #StandingStoneSunday we are honoured to have our Twitter account taken over by none other than William #Stukeley himself! 8. For anyone interested in Romantic essays about Welsh #folklore, #antiquarian studies, #Gothic and short stories, #HistoricalFiction or early #Tasmanian writing, allow me to share my comprehensive bibliography of Thomas Richards (1800-1877), formerly of Dolgellau before emigrating to Hobart via London in the early 1830s. Wherever possible, I have linked to #OpenAccess digital copies of any of his writings that I have been able to trace. This is a work in progress, so I hope to share future updates of the bibliography.

  9. Probably a good time for another #introduction...

I'm a Welsh #folklorist and #author with expertise in #ghostlore and particular #academic interest in the appearance of #spirits in the Welsh tradition.

I've recently co-authored 'The #Folklore of #Wales: #Ghosts' with researcher and podcast host Mark Norman, which is due out Sep 28 with Calon books.

I'm also an #antiquarian book collector, with a #library of some of Wales's rarest folkloric texts.

#Cymraeg iaith gyntaf; expect a bit of both.

  10. @aweatherall there must be #musicteachers or #antiquarian stores for this. I remember the first times I visited Prague and bought loads of used sheets of music very cheep for my two sons, full scores, or for viola and cello, chamber music etc. They were both part of orchestras up to university level. Plus had ind. lessons from about age 9
