Dabei sind mir ein paar Einzelteile in die Hände gefallen und die wollten dann auch noch gebaut werden XD
Der Kollege ganz links ist eine wüste Teilesammlung, der Goff Boss ist zu 100% original und bei Nasdreg hat ein Vorbesitzer die Wumme, das Banner und die Finger der linken Hand geklaut. Ich musste also kreativ werden ;)
Aber für solche Projekte liebe ich die Orks.

Painting!
This is a mix of Tamiya Titanium silver + red + blue + clear, shot through my Harder & Steenbeck infinity brush
The lighting/camera doesn't really do the color justice. There's a lot more purple in-person and the multiple layers gives a subtle chromatic shift under changing light.

The model itself is also coming along nicely.

A good model deserves a good base. The mirrors are from Ikea. I still haven't chosen between the copper-toned mirrors or the gunmetal-toned ones. I'll probably put off that decision until the last minute.

The six pins (atmo flaps & skip vanes) need to be aligned along the ship's long axis, or the vanes will be crooked. So I built an alignment jig to epoxy the pins into the holes drilled in the aft cowling

No, I don’t need that many hatches 😅
But whenever I pour a cast of a larger part, there’s always a little resin left in the mixing cup. Rather than waste it, I toss it in the splash mold. I’ll have a bunch of casts of the hatches to choose the best results from

In-between the casting, I've also been machining out a set of pivot pins that will be the mounting joints for the 3 skip vanes and the 3 atmo flaps. These will go in the holes drilled in the aft cowling

The resin casting duplication line is going full-speed

Building masters for the hatches. These will be masters for a splash mold.

Some more work on the hand-built parts. These photos show the construction of the vane master. Aside from some dimensional styrene extrusions, For Sale signs make a great source for sheet styrene. Just gotta make sure you sand off the printing so the styrene cement can grip

This is always one of my favorite parts: Greeblies! (Ralph McQuarrie taught me that term). These little bits will be partially obscured in the final model, but they're part of what will give it life.

Update on my #GGBO2023 build:
Last week, I routed pickup cavities through the top. Yesterday, I drilled the tuner holes through the headstock, routed the body round-over, carved the elbow/arm carve, and shaped the body/neck transition.
Next up: Sprinting to the finish line this week!! Only 3 days left! Routing a double 9V battery box cavity, then fretwork, sanding, finish, then hardware & electronics!
