The article reported on the arrival of the MCW Metropolitan prototype, NVP 533M, for evaluation by London Transport. While LT had already run six single-deck Scania models from Dalston on route S2, focus turned to the new double-decker, seen as a likely standard bus for the next decade.
Built by Metro-Cammell with #Scania, it had a rear 11-litre engine rated at 210 bhp and a fully automatic gearbox for stop-start work. Air suspension improved ride comfort. At 14ft 6in high and nearly 32ft long, it also featured strengthened bodywork.
Noise levels were reduced to a subdued murmur. Large windows and built-in heating improved conditions for passengers. Seating 74 under one-person operation, it impressed engineers at Chiswick Works with its modern controls, better visibility than older types, and accessible engine layout.

Did a quick overnighter during what may be this season's coldest weekend. About -12C which is about 15C colder than where I usually draw the line. Wanted to test myself and my equipment. And we all passed the test. I mean I'm here writing this in a good mood.
Hammock, THICC sleeping pad, underdimensionerad sleeping bag reinforced with a regular blanket and jacket also a liner for the bag I didn't need to use.

Went for a traditional after family dinner run lady night. In the dark spooky forest. Illuminated only by my headlamp.
I find there is something strangely comforting in the darkness. Existence shrinks to only include me. It envelopes me and removes everything not in the lamplight. And when the light moves whatever existed in it is no more. I am alone and I am everything.
