Oh no. Robyn Hitchcock just announced "the first in a series of live albums" to be released on Tiny Ghost.
Robyn has been touring almost as long as I've been alive. At nearly $30 a pop for colored vinyl, this could become very expensive.
Sigh. Let me get my wallet. What are the going rates for donating plasma these days?

I’ve been going to see Robyn Hitchcock since he showed up on my campus freshman year. 4+ decades later at 73 he still blows me away every single time I see him. As with so many musicians I’ve gone to see loyally over the run of their careers, I am so grateful I’ve been able to be present and experience their magic live. Thank you once again, you weird, beautiful old man. #robynhitchcock #thesoftboys

Robyn Hitchcock’s Fylde guitar on stage last night. He and Emma Swift put on a very good show, and he played a song that I requested, called ‘I often dream of trains’, which mentions Basingstoke. That’s where I lived when I was a teenager. #music #guitar #RobynHitchcock #EmmaSwift

Today’s listening is ‘Jewels For Sophia’, the 1999 album by Robyn Hitchcock.
This is a good album from Mr Hitchcock, with a fuller musical backing than is perhaps typical for his solo work.
The songs were recorded in Los Angeles, Seattle and London with assorted musical pals, in sessions which produced enough tracks for 2 albums, this one and also ‘A Star For Bram’.
The CD has two ‘bonus hidden tracks’ at the end, a fashion the point of which is still beyond me!

For those who are into such things, Robyn Hitchcock will be doing a live-streaming show on Sunday, January 19 to benefit musicians affected by the fires in Los Angeles. Tix are $5 or more -- replay available for 48 hours.
Joined a few of his live streams during the pandemic. Good show, cozy atmosphere, don't have to leave the house, and help people affected by natural disaster... all to the good.

Today’s listening is ‘Propellor Time’, the 2010 album by Robyn Hitchcock & The Venus 3.
The Venus 3 comprised Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey and Bill Rieflin.
Other musical guests on this record include Johnny Marr, Nick Lowe and John Paul Jones!
This is a pretty typical ‘full band’ album from Mr Hitchcock with some good tunes.
There is some backwards talking between 2 of the tracks, but I’m not going to risk my stylus trying to figure out what is being said!

"Don’t go thinking your whole life has been a mistake; most likely it’s been a series of mistakes, that look continuous when you get a little perspective on them…"

Unlikely, but I’ve just finished reading #RobynHitchcock’s biography “1967” which came out a few months ago. Anyone else want it before it goes to the charity shop?

Eso de que #TheBeatles se retiraron de las giras porque ya no podían tocar su música en vivo con los medios técnicos de la época es una patraña.
Y aquí está #RobynHitchcock para demostrarlo. Dentro vídeo.

At Robyn Hitchcock. Trying to remember if the last time I saw him was here at Fremont Abbey in Feb 2020, just before everything shut down, or if we’ve managed to see him once since.
But we are here tonight, and the twelve-year-old metalhead says it’s amazing and great to be watching performers having so much fun.

Today’s listening is ’I Often Dream Of Trains’, the 1984 album by Robyn Hitchcock.
In particular, my copy comes from the 2007 compilation box-set of his early solo recordings ‘I Wanna Go Backwards’.
This is a mostly acoustic album from Mr Hitchcock, which is a bit of a mixed bag, but does contain some good tracks.
In ‘Trams Of Old London’ Mr H reveals one of his enduring passions, the trolleybus!
“I often dream of trains….
heading for paradise, or Basingstoke….” -

Today’s listening is ‘There Goes The Ice’, the 2013 Record Store Day, 45rpm, double twelve inch album by Robyn Hitchcock.
This album brought together the series of ‘Phantom 45’s’ which had previously been only available as downloads from Robyn’s website, plus a couple of new songs.
By it’s nature this album contains a mixed bag of musical styles, but it’s enjoyable overall with some strong songs from Mr Hitchcock.
