🇬🇧 The Jesus and Mary Chain "Some Candy Talking" – 2026
Blends sweet pop melody with a haze of feedback and distortion. A perfect example of their ability to balance noise and accessibility.
The RSD edition has got acoustic versions on the b-side bringing out the melodic side of the band...#jesusandmarychain #shoegaze #noisepop #alternativerock #80smusic #rsd2026 #scottishmusic #vinylcommunity #vinyl #music #vinylrecords #nowspinningonvinyl #nowspinning

My wife asked me what I was strumming on the acoustic, and I told her this, which I learned the other day, as I was thinking of her. So I played it and sang it to her heheh. She hadn't heard it. Ah, that Jesus and Mary Chain. What a song. What an album. 😍 Been playing it a lot lately.

"Some candy talking" - Jesus and Mary Chain
I cannot watch this video, owing to the psychedelic colours.
Radio 1's Mike Smith reckoned this song was all about drugs, and didn't play it on his breakfast show. It's more diplomatic than not playing the song because it's wrong for the show - and in fairness, this is late-night stuff, not for 7.20am.

@DrEdBridges I have a busy June gig-wise; #Pulp in Brum and then the #JesusAndMaryChain on Sat back in the 'diff!

Check out @wavygk #DIY #guitar that kicked off some fab #retro #GenX #90smusic memories for me.
I was a huge fan of #JesusAndMaryChain back in the day. Me & my goth punk friend, Amanda, spent so many hours listening to their music on vinyl & dancing to their songs. I used to slip in some of their music as samples/mixed in with some hip-hop tracks, back when I used to DJ in clubs & private parties too.

"Me ei talunud 80ndaid üldse, ei muusikaliselt ega muudmoodi. 1980ndad oli kohutav aeg, milles elada. Tol ajal kirusime, et miks pidid 80ndad just meie aeg olema!? Kuradi õudne. Margaret Thatcher, kohutav muusika, inimesed tegid kohutavaid filme ja kirjutasid kohutavaid raamatuid."

I play a song by The Jesus and Mary Chain; I talk a little about seeing The Jesus and Mary Chain in concert; the big dog is getting treated for heartworms; I’m staying in the developer relations slack for now; I am so glad I don’t have to take jobs with AI firms seriously; I never used my real job title; Jason Scott eulogizes Cheshire Catalyst; things go from useful to junk to historically interesting; I am enjoying throwing decaying photo albums away; I am going to collage bullshit photographs; Jackie Kashian lost her patience with button pushers; I am no longer rounding up transactions for charity; I watched True Detective Seasons 3 and 4.

“Sometimes Always” from The Jesus and Mary Chain’s live album Sunset 666, which was from a 2018 show but wasn’t released until 2023. (That’s fellow Scot Isobel Campbell doing the part originally sung by Hope Sandoval.) #jesusandmarychain #shoegaze #altrock #postpunk #vinyl

Sometimes I am simply ashamed of myself. What lame-ass bullshit #music was I listening to in 1985 when #JesusAndMaryChain released 𝗣𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘆 (#269)? Can I blame this on being stuck listening to unimaginative Western Massachusetts rock radio? I was in college then ... well, OK, it was community college, but still! What an awesome album, right in my wheelhouse, and I missed it and I have no excuse. Capital "L" Loser!! (cont.)

Psychocandy 2022 – 24 x 30 x 25cm, firm plasticine for casting
Psychocandy was released 37 years ago in 1985, it was astonishing then and remains so today. I always thought the video to ‘Just like Honey’ was incredibly beautiful and statuesque, my sculpture will eventually be cast in bronze.
