La leyenda popular nos ha vendido la imagen de un aristócrata despojado de sus tierras que regresa de las Cruzadas para refugiarse en el bosque de Sherwood, robando a las clases altas para repartir el botín entre las comunidades desfavorecidas. Sin embargo, las crónicas judiciales de los siglos XIII y XIV cuentan una realidad muy diferente en términos burocráticos. En el año 1225, un tribunal de Yorkshire ordenó la confiscación de los bienes de un fugitivo llamado Robert Hod, quien debía dinero a una institución religiosa y huyó de la justicia. Al poco tiempo, los escribas del gobierno local comenzaron a modificar la ortografía en sus archivos, convirtiendo el apelativo de este delincuente en una etiqueta legal estándar para marcar a los fugitivos.

Para el año 1261, los registros financieros de diversas regiones británicas muestran que las autoridades llamaban automáticamente Robin Hood a cualquier asaltante de caminos, sin importar su verdadera identidad o su lugar de procedencia, funcionando de manera muy similar al uso moderno del nombre Juan Pérez en los reportes civiles. Además, los poemas escritos más antiguos, como el texto de Piers Plowman de 1377, describen a este personaje como un hombre rústico y sumamente violento que atacaba de preferencia a clérigos y oficiales del rey. La famosa narrativa del arquero idealista que luchaba contra el príncipe Juan y entregaba monedas de oro a los campesinos no existía en la época feudal, sino que fue una invención de los escritores románticos de la era victoriana, quienes transformaron los reportes de crímenes rurales en un mito de justicia social adaptable a los teatros de la época.

Yesterday was my last day with #TDAmeritrade as they have migrated my account to Schwab as part of their acquisition process. Feels a bit like an end of an era. I remember hating fomo inducing UI elements in #Robinhood and switching to TD allowed me to cut out a lot of the noise. By no means is their interface great, but you can stay away from fomo stuff easily, blinking charts and switching tickers were not in your face and it felt much more calm.

It was a step forward into more pro world.
