  7. As a member of the European Union Parliament, I recently spoke about the importance of protecting consumers in the video game industry. Specifically, I called for a ban on loot boxes and gambling-like mechanics in games, as these can be harmful and exploitative, especially for minors.

To achieve this goal, I proposed several concrete measures:

    1. Implement filters to detect and remove sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, or mobbing content from online communities.
    2. Regulate corporate practices that prioritize profits over player well-being, such as using opaque monetization models or manipulative psychological tactics.
    3. Introduce stricter guidelines for game developers to ensure they are not exploiting players with gambling-like mechanics or predatory microtransactions.
    4. Educate players and parents about the potential risks of video games and provide resources for responsible gaming practices.

By taking these steps, we can create a safer and more responsible gaming environment for everyone in the EU. #ProtectConsumers #ResponsibleGaming #NoLootBoxes #BanGambling

  8. As technology advances, the world of video games has also evolved a lot since we blew into Nintendo cartridges to make the game work. Today, young and old are almost all connected to the internet, and this has opened up many opportunities and helped the gaming industry grow into a significant economic force.

However, this evolution has also brought some dangers for consumers. Sometimes, game installation is free, and companies make money by collecting personal data, which is then used for targeted advertising or by selling products within the games themselves, requiring players to stay glued to their screens. It's essential, therefore, to strengthen parental control, limit manipulative commercial practices, and stop collecting personal data to prevent negative impacts on daily life, including financial ones, and even health problems, especially for the youngest.

With this report, Mr. Commissioner, we ask you to study the issue and suggest solutions to ensure that online video games, like the old consoles, are a safe moment of entertainment and learning.

    Proposals:

    1. Strengthen parental control to limit screen time and monitor online activity.
    2. Limit manipulative commercial practices within video games to prevent addiction and excessive spending.
    3. Stop collecting personal data without consent, ensuring the protection of players' privacy.
    4. Promote responsible gaming habits through education and awareness campaigns. #OnlineVideoGames #ParentsControl #ResponsibleGaming #DataProtection
