  1. About 3 in 4 people who develop a substance use problem eventually recover — that's what CDC/NIDA survey data keeps finding. Recovery is the most common outcome. It's also the quietest one. If you're struggling, the odds are quietly on your side. #Addiction #Recovery #RecoveryAdvocacy

  2. Redemption is possible for people. It's a lot harder to swallow when applied to a corporation that helped start an epidemic. I'm for mercy, but mercy without accountability isn't justice—it's a PR campaign.

  3. Harm reduction, at its best, says: I see you, I want you alive, and I'm not going to make change harder than it already is. New Swiss data on regulated cannabis access fits that ethic. Lower risk, not higher use.

  4. Recovery science gets a national stage next week — addiction and public policy, together, in the same conversation. That's where this fight keeps getting lost. We have the evidence. We even have the economics. What we need is the will to act on it. Policy is where lives get saved or lost.

  5. Reading the Pew report on states expanding methadone access, and it strikes me how much of addiction policy has been about control rather than care. New Jersey stopped requiring counseling as a condition of receiving medication. Michigan is letting mobile units reach people where they are. These aren't radical changes—they're just treating medication like medication. The radical part is that it took this long.

  6. Reading about opioid settlement money going back to the distributors who caused the crisis, and I just keep thinking: this is the gap between how we talk about addiction and how we actually treat it. We say "disease model." We say "public health." But when the money hits the table, the people who profit from the crisis get paid and the people in recovery get nothing. Connection and care over corporate comfort. Every time.

  7. The news out of SAMHSA today is hard to read. New requirements that make OUD treatment harder to access — not easier. After decades in this field, I keep coming back to the same truth: people need connection and care, not more barriers. When policy drifts from the science, people pay with their lives.

  8. Seeing a lot of commentary about harm reduction being abandoned in policy circles. Here's the thing: harm reduction isn't the enemy of recovery. It's often the bridge. When we take away that bridge, people don't suddenly get better — they fall.
