Why is this spring becoming my Raynauds season?!? Several episodes so far today and it's not even noon yet.
Now sipping a bovril with my hands all snuggly on the mug. Will have to break out the electric gloves if this doesn't solve the issue.

There's some good news that snuck by me last year. Someone actually looked at our problem and might have found the genes involved. I absolutely did not expect to see that in my lifetime, but I'll take it!

New research: “Raynaud’s syndrome is a common dysautonomia where exposure to cold increases the vascular tone of distal arteries causing vasoconstriction and hypoxia particularly in the extremities. Our results indicate that Raynaud’s syndrome is related to vascular function mediated by adrenergic signaling through ADRA2A.“

Question for #disabled/chronically ill Mastodon folk with conditions that cause issues with cold e.g. #dysautonomia, #raynauds ... I've been doing more swimming and aquafit (good for me in many ways!) but I'm seriously struggling with cold recently. Warming up after swimming is taking *hours*. Are those long-sleeved swimming costumes any good? Anyone found any other solutions? #disability [ETA: I swim in an indoor pool, not wild swimming. My cold intolerance is pretty bad!]

Huh, I’m so cold that I had a Raynaud’s attack. Normally it’s only the tips of fingers but it was the side of one of the fingers. Strange. Just starting to get feeling back.

CW: Spinning - or rather, plying!
I did not expect Andean plying to be so much easier than chain plying - it looked like dark magic.
Ignore the hand colour - this isn’t at all tight, it’s just #Raynauds being annoying.
All the non fine wool samples now plied. Now to beat and soak and see if the two really stiff and scratchy ones soften up.

I have Raynaud’s and it was particularly bad while I was out in the downpour after work. I’m just waiting for the feeling to come back to one of my fingers. I was wearing gloves. Sigh.

4/ this latest episode of extreme #caregiving involved all three of us getting sick. whether it was a cold or covid, i don't know. none of us tested positive, but all of us were headachy & sniffly for a week.
for my dad with #ParkinsonsDisease, #dementia, urinary & fecal #incontinence, & my mother with #CVD, #CHF, #COPD, MGUS, #dementia, #ThyroidDisease, severe #osteoporosis, #KidneyDisease, #raynauds, etc... having even just a cold makes everything worse.
