  1. CW: PWA debate

    @ianthetechie

    why PWAs? Because simple, clean, and completed apps are difficult to get and then keep in the app stores.

    This is due to demands for "updates for updates sake" to "prove you are an active developer".

    There's not enough value in this for simple, clean, completed apps and utilities. PWA are a very good alternative for utility, scheduling, and tech demo apps (like #rattlegram and #ribbit)

    A lot of PWA will be junk. So are many app store products.

  6. It was another fantastic week in #opensource #digital #radio. I call this type of work OSDR.

    There's #ribbit and #rattlegram, #Haifuraiya, #rfbitbanger, and two more projects without snazzy names that are coming together rapidly.

    That's just a part of what is going on at @OpenResearchIns

    And there is so much more out there. Tools development, #AI, free tutorials on nearly any subject, and (supply chain permitting) cheap computing and components.

    It's a great time to do this sort of work.

  11. You could encrypt a short message with one of those #AES Apps for Text from #FDroid and then turn the #chiffre into audio via #rattlegram or #AndFlmsg and send this sound via a #PMR466 or #hamradio handheld simply by holding the smartphone next to the #trx. The receivers just need the same apps and handhelds. You would only need one #Smartphone and one handheld per person. No wires, interfaces,... But such an #offgrid #decentral communication would be illegal in most (all?) countries. Why?

  23. The #rattlegram IoS app for #ribbit was just accepted for testflight.

    If you are part of the test team, thank you very much from all of us at @OpenResearchIns

    Rattlegram is on track to be a very successful communications product with applications in #hamradio and tactical deployments.

  28. @abraxas3d
    Your #rattlegram a rather interesting #hamradio app for "data transfer via acoustic coupling to a HF rig". I would like to get it installed on my Android phone.

    I don't have a Google account active on my phone, hence no play store access.

    What is your recommendation where to get the app? (I already checked Fdroid.)
