A bit darker on the ride back. Stopped off to check out the old phone box in the centre of the village en route.

Leaning my bike against a remnant of the old platform for the Skem to St. Helens line. In the background you can just see the footbridge between the platforms on Rainford Junction (now named just Rainford, even though it's in the hamlet of Rainford Junction and a mile or so away from Rainford itself) station.

Figured the Coach Road would be too muddy, so fought the headwind along the Lancs instead, which meant I came through the village and past the village hall.

Impromptu trip over to Rainford. Bit wet. Very windy. First ride along the Coach Road on the CGR and it's the perfect match of terrain and bike.

With the lingering snow and ice I'd avoided my usual cross-country route, so actually rode through the village for once.

An idyllic #cycling Sunday. A group of us #FolkRidingBikes rode out through the countryside from Liverpool to Rainford (where I grew up).
After Sunday lunch at the Derby Arms we whiled away the afternoon playing crown green bowls before a ride back home.
