Last night's #JoyRide was a two county affair. Jumped the train to Ormskirk and then rode back through the countryside to Liverpool.

Last night was an early summer's eve, the #JoyRide took in Everton (past the water tower) and down to the new Everton FC stadium, and back along the river through the city centre.
Town was full of people giddy from the nice weather.
-
I led the ride for last night's #JoyRide, a short one so we had plenty of time for my mate Asia to take us forest bathing.
An hour of lightly-guided mindfulness and communing with the trees, water and birds in the Everton Nature Garden.
Rounded off with us drifting back to the fire for a cup of tea and reflection on the evening. Was happy to see the bats out again too, they'd been a highlight of the session we did last year.

As seems to be becoming tradition, the #FolkRidingBikes had a Good Friday ride round the Wirral coast to West Kirby for fish and chips.
It looks nice in the photo but there was an ridiculous headwind all the way. However, that made the night ride back a dream
-
It was very windy last night, but we managed to tack through the city using it to our advantage.
-
And lo, they did journey through the park, following the angel on a trike...

Manta ray on a bike! Now with added fire!
The longer video of our group social ride through #Liverpool to the Strike a Pose alternative cabaret night is out.
The event itself raised £1800 for the strike fund for workers at Tate Liverpool.
-
You mean you didn't spend Friday evening riding round Liverpool in a group following a dancing manta ray on a trike?
You missed out.
(there'll be a video that makes /slightly/ more sense along later)

Got the full edit of the #JoyRide Goes Classical ride finished over the weekend
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vb70Z6QBTJY
A ride of two halves: Guy conducting the classical ride till we got to the Pier Head, where we bumped into Stealing Sheep and gave them a lift to their gig at Rough Trade!

The cycling gods were smiling on us on Friday evening: the sound as you come through the arcade in Liverpool ONE is always great and we got there just in time for a bell accompaniment to the music.
There'll be a full video soon, but here's a teaser with one of my favourite bits.
-
Got a quick test of the Bike-O-Techno on one of the Disco Bikes last night just before our #JoyRide.
Worked nicely, and sounds better with some bass 🤣
Recorded a super-janky video of it.
We didn't use it for the ride itself, as we were off for a forest bathing session, and there was a prepped playlist for that.

The road from Formby to the Cheshire Lines rail-trail is closed to through-traffic (I think the bridge over the old railway needs work they can't be bothered to do) so the local hares are getting used to mostly having it to themselves.
It was still really warm last night for a lovely ~40 mile loop out on the Cheshire Lines and back along the coast.

Glorious weather last night for a #JoyRide around Liverpool.

Last night the #FolkRidingBikes went to the beach. As Formby is a bit further than our usual Friday night rides, we collected people at a couple of stations en route.
Alicja led the route. Vinny brought the tunes. Others brought refreshments and snacks. James brought a camping stove and bacon butty ingredients!
Some went for a swim. Some of us just hung out and minded the bikes.
-
We often get folk joining in when they encounter us on our #FolkRidingBikes group social rides, but Friday's was the first on a penny farthing!!!
-
Took advantage of the bank holiday for an earlier #FolkRidingBikes ride, and we got a bit further afield too.
Rode up to the top of Clieve Hill just outside Aughton and back, via a brief stop in a 705 year old pub.

And another #InTheSaddle photo from the return journey from my trip home for Mothers' Day.
Somewhere beyond that wall there are lions. Couldn't hear their roars for the roar of traffic on the East Lancs a couple of metres behind me as I took that.
(It's the edge of Lord Derby's estate, home to Knowsley Safari Park)

CW: Didn't have anything in for lunch, so went to Formby. CW for photo of food, but there's also a nice bike zine
Nice 40 mile round trip, out up the coast and back through the countryside of the Lancashire plain.
And one perk of muleing stuff for @Styles on last night's ride is that when she forgets it at the end of the night you end up with some awesome Cycle Shorts zines you can read over lunch before you give them back 😀 https://cycleshorts.bigcartel.com/

Got out for an #InTheSaddle ride before the match.
I'd forgotten there was a big boat visiting.

Friday evening was the next #StrikeAPose alternative cabaret clubnight, with this edition raising funds for Livv Housing employees striking in Knowsley.
Chris, one of the performers and a #FolkRidingBikes regular, arranged a group ride to get there; along with a mid-ride stop-off in St. James' Gardens for a performance poetry amuse-bouche.

Was a bit late getting back from work today, but it was too nice an evening (and I didn't get any cycling over the weekend as I was away) to not get out for a ride.
-
Some times you have to fit cycling around running errands, or is it the other way round?
19 miles over to Ormskirk for the market; 7 miles to Rainford to visit family; 3.5 miles to Windle to catch up with friends; then 14 miles back to Liverpool
43 miles #InTheSaddle

Jumped on the ferry over to Seacombe last night, to ride round to West Kirby for the start of our #FolkRidingBikes group ride.
Had forgotten that Queen Mary 2 was visiting, until I got down to the Pier Head.

On Friday evening we had a #JoyRide. And this one was a bit special. Fifty or so cyclists following a performer on a trike with a soundsystem through Liverpool on a gorgeous summer's evening.

Thankfully there was plenty of better footage to go into this #RideToTheSun 2024 compilation video.
11 hours, and 100 miles, condensed to 18 minutes, featuring lots of cyclists, a piper, a cycle rave, Edinburgh and the sunrise over the Firth of Forth

We made it. 100 miles, overnight, to Cramond just north of Edinburgh.
(we've been here a few hours now. Waiting for the bus to pick us up

Took a trip out through West Derby and Croxteth Park to Huyton via Stockbridge Village last night.
Far leafier than the locals would expect from a ride through "Cannibal Farm" (c.f. Cantril Farm, which got such a bad name they renamed it Stockbridge Village) and "Two dogs" (-fighting, rhyming slang for Huyton)
