PowerUp NC Invites Raleigh Residents to Envision a Greener Future

PowerUp NC invites Raleigh residents to Robert’s Park Community Center on Saturday, August 29, for a community conversation about sustainability, resilient neighborhoods and environmentally responsible development.

This summer’s extreme heat and rising electricity bills have made the need for action increasingly clear. The event will explore practical ways residents, community leaders and local programs can work together to create healthier neighborhoods where buildings and development support the environment instead of working against it.

Addressing High Utility Bills and Community Challenges

Attendees will have an opportunity to discuss the environmental and economic challenges affecting Raleigh households. The gathering is designed to give residents useful information while ensuring their experiences and ideas are included in the conversation.

Participants can expect to leave with:

• Actionable ideas for addressing extreme heat, energy costs and environmental concerns.
• Information about local programs offering free or low-cost home maintenance assistance.
• A better understanding of how sustainable development can strengthen Raleigh neighborhoods.
• Opportunities to connect with residents who care about sustainability and community resilience.

Free Food and Raffle Prizes

The event is open to residents who are passionate about sustainability, concerned about rising utility bills or simply interested in learning about available community resources.

Everyone who registers will receive free food and automatically be entered into a raffle for a chance to win prizes. Advance registration is encouraged, but residents who have not registered are still invited to participate.

Broken Budget Townhall in Raleigh: Stand Up for Working Families

Why This Townhall Matters

Washington politicians have passed what many are calling a broken budget—a harmful spending plan that raises costs for everyday people while stripping away essential resources. This bill threatens health care access for working families, takes funding away from our public schools, and hands out massive tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations.

For families already facing difficult choices, this budget could mean the difference between putting food on the table or paying skyrocketing energy bills. That’s why our community is coming together to make our voices heard.

The Broken Budget Townhall Tour

The Broken Budget Townhall Tour is a grassroots movement to hold politicians accountable for policies that harm our communities. This event in Raleigh is part of a statewide effort to stand up against cuts that put working families, students, and communities at risk.

You’ll hear directly from community leaders, educators, and advocates about the real-life impact of this budget—and what we can do to fight back.

Featured Speaker: Ernestine Ledbetter

We’re proud to feature Ernestine Ledbetter, an Organizing Committee member who has been a strong voice for justice and equity in our state. Alongside Ernestine, other community voices from across North Carolina will share their experiences and solutions for building a fairer future.
