  5. Robert-Ann Foundation Announces 2026 Minority Mental Health 5K in Raleigh

July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, a time dedicated to recognizing the mental health challenges affecting racial and ethnic minority communities while expanding access to education, support and culturally responsive resources.

To help turn awareness into community action, the Robert-Ann Foundation will host its 4th Annual Minority Mental Health 5K Walk & Run on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Anderson Point Park in Raleigh.

Minority Mental Health 5K Walk & Run Details

    Date: Saturday, July 25, 2026
    Time: 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
Location: Anderson Point Park, Raleigh, North Carolina
    Host: Robert-Ann Foundation
    Theme: “Community”

Walkers, runners, volunteers, families, local organizations and community partners are invited to participate.

This year’s theme, “Community,” highlights the idea that meaningful change happens when people come together with compassion, purpose and action.

Why Minority Mental Health Awareness Matters

Minority and underserved communities can encounter significant barriers when seeking mental health care. Those barriers may include cost, limited access to providers, cultural stigma, discrimination, language differences and a shortage of professionals who understand a community’s lived experiences.

Minority Mental Health Awareness Month encourages communities to:

    • Reduce stigma surrounding mental illness and treatment.
    • Promote open and respectful conversations about mental health.
    • Connect individuals and families with helpful resources.
    • Support culturally responsive mental health services.
    • Remind people experiencing mental health challenges that they are not alone.

The Robert-Ann Foundation’s annual walk and run creates a welcoming space where Raleigh residents can raise awareness, find community resources and support people affected by mental health challenges.

Ways to Participate in the Raleigh 5K

There are several ways for individuals, families, businesses and organizations to support the 2026 Minority Mental Health 5K.

Register as a Walker or Runner

Community members can walk or run to show their support for mental health awareness. Participants are encouraged to invite family members, friends, coworkers, church groups and community organizations.

    Become a Community Partner

Local organizations can participate as community partners and share their programs, services and resources with attendees.

Community-partner participation is free, giving nonprofits and service providers an opportunity to reach residents who may benefit from their work.

    Volunteer at the Event

Volunteers are needed to help the Robert-Ann Foundation create a safe, welcoming and successful experience.

Volunteer roles may support event setup, participant check-in, course activities, resource areas and other event-day needs.

    Participate as a Vendor

Organizations and vendors interested in participating should complete the appropriate online registration form.

Vendor registration deadline: Monday, July 20, 2026

Additional logistics and next steps will be provided following registration.

    Building a Healthier Raleigh Community

Mental health awareness should extend beyond a single month or event. Lasting progress requires accessible services, informed communities and supportive environments where people feel safe asking for help.

By walking, running, volunteering or sharing resources, participants can help reduce stigma and demonstrate that mental health is a community priority.

The Robert-Ann Foundation looks forward to welcoming Raleigh residents to Anderson Point Park on July 25 as the community walks, runs and stands together for minority mental health.

Together, Raleigh can raise awareness, inspire hope and remind those who are struggling that they are not alone.

  38. Meet Senator Dan Blue in Southeast Raleigh Event Recap

Last night, Raleigh residents gathered for a meaningful and well-attended community meeting with Senator Dan Blue at the Top Green Community Center on MLK Blvd. The event, designed for civic engagement and direct dialogue, provided a rare opportunity for open conversation at the heart of Southeast Raleigh.

    Event Highlights

On September 8, 2025, at 6:30 PM, community members gathered at the Top Green Community Center on MLK Blvd in Raleigh for a special meeting with State Senator Dan Blue and Representative Abe Jones. Why It Mattered

This community gathering highlighted the power of face-to-face civic engagement. In an age where much of political dialogue happens online, there’s something deeply impactful about seeing elected officials in person, asking questions, and getting direct answers.

Residents were able to voice concerns about pressing local and state issues, from the cost of living to future land use in Raleigh. The strong turnout demonstrated Southeast Raleigh’s commitment to staying informed and engaged in shaping its future.

Senator Blue and Representative Jones emphasized their dedication to listening, responding, and working with the community on solutions that address both immediate needs and long-term growth.

    🏛️ Building Southeast Raleigh’s Future

Events like this reaffirm that civic engagement is not just about politics—it’s about community trust, accountability, and shared vision. The conversation at Top Green Community Center was a reminder that Raleigh’s strength lies in its people coming together to discuss challenges and opportunities.

  41. Broken Budget Townhall in Raleigh: Stand Up for Working Families

    Why This Townhall Matters

Washington politicians have passed what many are calling a broken budget—a harmful spending plan that raises costs for everyday people while stripping away essential resources. This bill threatens health care access for working families, takes funding away from our public schools, and hands out massive tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations.

For families already facing difficult choices, this budget could mean the difference between putting food on the table or paying skyrocketing energy bills. That’s why our community is coming together to make our voices heard.

    The Broken Budget Townhall Tour

The Broken Budget Townhall Tour is a grassroots movement to hold politicians accountable for policies that harm our communities. This event in Raleigh is part of a statewide effort to stand up against cuts that put working families, students, and communities at risk.

You’ll hear directly from community leaders, educators, and advocates about the real-life impact of this budget—and what we can do to fight back.

    Featured Speaker: Ernestine Ledbetter

We’re proud to feature Ernestine Ledbetter, an Organizing Committee member who has been a strong voice for justice and equity in our state. Alongside Ernestine, other community voices from across North Carolina will share their experiences and solutions for building a fairer future.
