He spent a career trying to find a Jewish style of architecture, tracing lines all the way back to #SolomonsTemple in his 1988 #book Architecture of Exile — and admitted the connection was “a real stretch.” There isn’t one. What there is instead is something more interesting: #Jews living across different eras who helped shape the urban landscape around them while navigating questions of identity, opportunity, community, and belonging. It makes me so happy to see this pop up in my feed from 8 years ago. I was so proud of this, and so proud to participate in the artists' showcase I created this for! The theme was "sound". I wracked my brains to come up with an idea that didn't involve drawings of headphones, musical instruments, boom boxes, or dancing, and ended up creating two submissions I was really proud of. I couldn't decide which one to submit, so the showcase organizer picked this one. 1/
