Volunteer papaya plants! Still alive, surprisingly. Several others I transplanted died, one I transplanted has stalled and looks sad. I recall they are extremely sensitive to root damage (as in you cannot transplant them?!). Challenge will be to keep these alive through winter... if we have rain or very cold weather may have to move inside. #gardening #papayas

UPDATE: Dug down to the seed on one of these (there are now maybe 50 of these plants). THESE ARE PAPAYAS!!

So now, to figure out how/where to grow papayas in the yard... very sensitive to cold, but we have been extraordinarily warm here... so maybe a chance.
