installed #LineageOS on my S20+ phone today:
took quite some effort, since there's only a (slightly outdated) unofficial version of LineageOS available

- downgraded the #firmware to 'G986BXXSFFVIB' (the last version for Android 12)
- extracted the BOOT image, patched it using #Magisk, and flashed it (to have root access)
- did *not* install #Opengapps, #MindTheGapps, or even #microG, to see if we can manage without the Google Play Shop/Services

@neil @Edent https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.walletnfcrel is you need to install GPay or use the "stock"/"super" #OpenGapps packages from https://opengapps.org/ (although #Lineage recommends just installing nano and the installing from store)

Hmmm. #OpenGapps hasn't been updated for Android 12.
Might try an older one. Or just randomly downloading a ROM from MediaFire 🙃

Please, all Android developers, make a system that can fake the contact list, files and photos, location and phone ID and other information that apps usually require (but don't need).
Android only lets you disable those things, but that's not it - some apps don't work without consent.

All I could find was #xposed and #xprivacy, but it doesn't seem to be evolving much and it's definitely not for casual users. I'd love to have a system that pretended to be Android, but be based on #lineageos & #OpenGapps and include those xprivacy features by default.

@salixlucida "Bluetooth beacons, however, can track your location accurately from a range of inches to about 50 meters" isn't true for a single beacon, and they only range as far in the open. The idea of beacon-based ads isn't new. And you'd be quite engaged to opt into suh services or have them preinstalled. Run #LineageOS andif necessary #OpenGApps.
