  1. Staple Hill pre-school told to make urgent improvements as children at ‘significant risk of harm’

A new Ofsted report has delivered a scathing verdict Little Sheep Pre-School is based at Staple Hill Methodist…

  2. theguardian.com/education/2026. "The leader of the UK’s biggest #education #union has torn into the government’s record on #schools, accusing #Labour of letting down the nation’s #children & failing to deliver on its promises for education... On Monday the #Green party leader, Zack #Polanski, received a standing ovation on the conference stage after he promised radical change, including the abolition of #Ofsted, a 'serious cash injection' into schools & an end to academisation."

  3. I like how Zack is winning over the old Labour voting blocs one by one.
The horror of having only a two party system and both teams are locked into a death spiral with no third party to jump to.
Good luck to Canada and their third party, the only way is up from where it was!

  4. Proud moment.
I had to fill out a 'parent view' government form for my kid's school's ofsted inspection this week.
There were a lot of boxes to tick - ticked em. But then there was an empty box to fill in with views, so I wrote a bunch of positive things about my kid's experience at the school - and a final negative thing about there not being enough teachers due to the national crisis. Topped it off with 'abolish ofsted'.

    Głos matki i „bombardowanie algorytmami”

  6. The result of this will be that every #Reform MP will think they have a free pass now to demand to go into schools. If schools rebuff their requests, they will demand the same action that has been visited on this Bristol school - a snap #Ofsted inspection.

The short sightedness of #Starmer is breathtaking.

  7. OFSTED may have thought they'd addressed schools' concerns with the inspection process through (among other things) the abandonment of single word ratings but it now looks like they've not managed to gain the confidence of headteachers who are now looking to possibly strike over the new system.

The key problem here is not so much the reform(s) but the historic lack of confidence that schools have felt in OFSTED's inspection practice(s) & this remains.

  8. #Ofsted has praised Southern Rail’s driver apprenticeship scheme at #Selhurst, #London, awarding it a ‘good’ overall rating and highlighting ‘outstanding’ behaviours and attitudes. Inspectors noted the 135 apprentices flourish in a culture of positivity and mutual respect, have strong attendance, and feel safe and proud to work in the rail industry. Trainers were commended for skilfully structuring learning and using varied assessment methods, while leaders have improved teaching of functional skills. The scheme, part of Govia #Thameslink #Railway, was praised for producing well-rounded apprentices.

  9. theguardian.com/education/2025. Thanks a bunch for precisely NOTHING, #ofsted! Young people in the UK on the #autism spectrum face enough difficulties without you adding to them by labelling them all as potential "extremists", at a time when even Yvette Cooper is worried about the excessive numbers of youngsters being referred to #prevent.

  10. Amanda Spielman was head of Ofsted, an organisation that only they themselves had any faith in. Ofsted failed for so long.
Her best contribution now would be to go volunteer in one of her local schools.

  11. I should have been finishing off another review on my l #eurovision blog but today's #ofsted day has frankly whacked me out of kilter and taking it out on Marko from Croatia isn't fair. So that'll be out tomorrow x

  12. OFSTED's proposal to change how results of schools' inspection are presented, are out for consultation but already have been quite heavily criticised.

A bigger issue is while the proposals present a change in messaging they do little to address the real problem of inspectors' behaviour & accountability the lie at the heart of much of the serious disquiet & complaints about OFSTED's conduct.

Until that is addressed, the rest is just window dressing!

  13. Here's Green Party spokesperson, Vix Lowthion on OFSTED, just in case the mainstream media have forgotten to quote them on the current arguments about reform of the assessment regime for schools.

  14. Instead of "Attention needed" and "causing concern", how about "Additional support needed" and "Significant support needed" because more support/funding is the only way to make these creaking services better.

  15. OFSTED's shift from a single word judgement on inspections to an 8 item score card (assessing, achievement, leadership & governance, curriculum, developing teaching, personal development & wellbeing, attendance, behaviour & attitudes, and inclusion), with colour-coded indicators has not gone down quite as well as they might have hoped.

Critics in schools have immediately labelled this a Nandos approach (likening it to the hotness ranking at the restaurants).... oops

  16. #OFSTED are inspecting my youngest daughter's high school tomorrow.

School emailed their letter at 7:40pm today. The deadline for submitting responses on OFSTED's web form is 11am tomorrow - and there's a 1000 character limit.

F- to OFSTED and school, it's just not bloody good enough.

  17. Should I be surprised that human ballbag #MichaelGove who destroyed well run #Birmingham schools with #TrojanHorse racist #SatanicPanic also lauded #Mossbourne schools which got great #OFSTED reports while abusing and terrorizing teenage students until they soiled themselves or became suicidal?

    Probably not.

  19. hmmm.. OFSTED's answer to criticism(s) of a single ranking for schools once inspected, is to use the same device, but across 10 schools' activities.

The 10 proposed areas of assessment are:
    curriculum,
    teaching,
    achievement,
    leadership,
    behaviour & values,
    attendance,
    preparation for next steps,
    opportunities to thrive,
    inclusion & belonging, and safeguarding.

While this will provide a scorecard approach, the bigger issue remains the conduct of inspectors!

  20. So found out my kid’s school have an #Ofsted inspection tomorrow…we were given less than 24hrs to complete a survey as parents.

I fear it’s come at the worst time for them because they have 5 classes having to relocate due to the roofs being neglected for decades (not RAAC, but unsafe lathe and plaster ceilings hidden by asbestos containing ceiling tiles).

Do any allowances get made if the school is currently in crisis mode due buildings?
