Wish I'd found this channel during the COVID dix-neuf lockdown--feeling nostalgic for a humaner catastrophe.

Andreij Rublev (Andrea Gava) gets super creative during the loneliest times of the pandemic. He streamed these interesting jams--sometimes he'd score an old silent film or have other musicians join him remotely to collaborate and talk. It's very sweet and dazzling-brilliant...if you're into that sort of thing :)

Finally tidied the Blanket Fort to the point I can try my hand at this crazy "no-input mixing" that all the cool kids are talkin' about.

Today was a pretty awesome teaching day for me. The incredibly gregarious Roger Linn was the guest speaker at the music department seminar, and my students in electronic performance had their first performances in class. Lots of cool #LiveCoding and #NoInputMixing pieces.

I’ve had this idea for a very long time. Never did it until yesterday. It’s fucking glorious. It is so so fucking good and it was my idea.

You just take a bunch of phone plugs and unscrew the barrel thing. Plug them into a mixer and patcg with crocodile clips. Suddenly you can do out of phase stuff, use the xlr inputs (just plug the plug bit in), split signals, do the kind of dead short mixing you’re not supposed to do. (Continued)

I received my last pedal today for this set up - an analog passive pickup simulator that converts the line going into the fuzzfactory to the right impedance.

I have several others that I want to make into a noise/no-input feedback board and am considering a limiter as some are seriously brutal.

Does anyone here use a limiter at the end of their no-input mixing set up? I’m interested in something in pedal format to catch transients and control overall levels.

scope in X-Y mode looks nice on this setup. haven't found a good way to capture this on video though, especially the paths that only go through the distortions and mixer. wondering if there are any lasers with analog X-Y control readily available?
