  1. I find it quite surprising that there are level crossings in UK where trains are almost 125 mph fast (I measured 117 mph = 188 km/h). Aren't there any safety concerns?

Location: East Coast Main Line, Bathley Lane north of Newark.

My face became 😯 when I passed the crossing and opened OsmAnd quickly to the current speed of the train.

  2. I have to decide whether to head out on my bike into #StormCiaran so that I can catch a train that I bought a ticket for because, if that #train runs, I can't get a refund

My life is probably worth more than the price of the ticket (up for debate, #UK #trains cost a small fortune) but I resent that "please consider not #travelling" does not translate into an automatic refund if I choose to comply

  3. @shieldsy05 @TerribleMaps If you think DD MMM YYYY is unambiguous, wait until you see British #NationalRail #TrainTickets.

Even though they are in English, they don't use the normal month name three-letter abbreviations JAN, FEB, etc, but JNR, FBY, MCH, APR, MAY, JUN, JLY, AUG, SEP, OCT, NOV, DMR. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APTIS_ti #APTIS
