While commuting on MARC in 1977, I read the National Association of Rail Passengers newsletter posted at Baltimore Penn Station, and became a member. Once I moved to Seattle in 1990, I was traveling more on #amtrak so when #narp held their regional meeting in #PDX I attended. Rep. Earl Blumenauer was the featured speaker, and he gave an inspiring talk about the need for better trains and transit. I also attended the Amtrak Unlimited forum Gathering in #SEA, so suddenly I was a rail activist.
