OVERRATED

Sometime around 3,200 to 3,500 years ago,
civilization was presented with the Ten
Commandments: Do not kill, Do not steal, etc.
Much later, the War to End All Wars ended
on November 11, 1918. In the United States
of America alone, we have overloaded our
prisons with countless criminals convicted of
killing or stealing. Around the world, tempers
flare into wars again and again. And throughout
this history, we keep announcing that this or that
event is so horrible, we will take all necessary
steps to never let that happen again.

Listening to the
“Never again” outcry is
much overrated.

THE COMPLEXITIES OF ONE’S MIND

One part of my mind is like the bark of an old
beech tree that faithfully retains arbor glyphs
from decades past. And then the other part of
my mind is more like an avalanche.
