As of yesterday, my Meshtastic repeater near Monasterevin, Co Kildare, Ireland, has been joined by a Meshcore one.

I'm still very much on the learning curve for both, more so the latter.

I think someone within reach is running an MQTT gateway and flooding repeater adverts and chat traffic onto the local mesh. As a result I was initially inundated with repeaters from all over the UK and as far away as Belgium and Netherlands, plus chat from UK.

I've now put in "ioi" (island of Ireland) as a regional identifier and turned off flood on the repeater for packets without region scope. But I'm not sure how widespread the use of that regional identifier is in Ireland so I may be missing some stuff. Hard to know how to strike the right balance.

Have seen a couple of messages since, but my replies didn't get back to the senders.

Went to the parade in Monasterevin. It was what a parade should be. Good turnout, but not mad packed; local services (fire, credit union) and groups (community, GAA, dance, cultural). Commercial involvement limited to local businesses.

Couple of pints after.
