Tonight in #MMRPG! My back finally shuts up enough that I can GM again as the heroes continue their search for the missing girl Cammie. Vega the Digital Dragon surprises a trio of mischievous scamps who snuck into her arcade in the middle of the night but one of them recognizes her as a town superhero and they end up having a heartwarming moment geeking out over video games. Unfortunately, the moment is interrupted by somebody or something landing on the roof of the arcade... 1/?

The session began with Vega and Crosshair out on patrol in the middle of the night and finding Ogre trying (with little success) to skulk around unseen. Using his ninja-like stealth Crosshair comes up behind Ogre to ask what's up, startling the big lug, who wheels around and konks him hard across the jaw (oops). Ogre apologizes on realizing who he just clobbered, but Spotlight takes it in stride. The two heroes ask what the "not evil but easily duped into crimes" metahuman is up to, and Ogre explains that he's searching for his friend Cammie, a little girl who ran away from the F.E.A.S.T. shelter where they had both been staying, but that he's hiding because he's still technically a fugitive from the law. 1/?

But when I said "play" I mean log in once in a while, join some LFG Raids, maybe run some instances on alts. If I am feeling particurarily masochistic, run a +Mythic.

But Blizzard is constantly hiring and firing people, and each new lead has to fucking impring their ideas on the game.

And so. In the new expansion;
1) They gated the expansion behind the last strory line. If you have not done all their stupid lore quests to admire their stupid 'content'. You are phased out from doing the expansion.

2) I log in today, and the main capital where you previously could fly in, is retrospecively gated behind a PATHFINDER quest, which is a long arse quest to enable flight...
I have never bothered with the pathfinder quests because they are just stupid make work quests for a feature that should be basic.

So yeah, after years of playing #WOW, #Blizzard may have actually have gotten closer than ever to have me quit the game.
I could use the spare 137GB on my primary boot drive.

So I have been playing #Blizzards #Wow because #addiction

But when I said "play" I mean log in once in a while, join some LFG Raids, maybe run some instances on alts. If I am feeling particurarily masochistic, run a +Mythic.

But Blizzard is constantly hiring and firing people, and each new lead has to fucking impring their ideas on the game.

And so. In the new expansion;
1) They gated the expansion behind the last strory line. If you have not done all their stupid lore quests to admire their stupid 'content'. You are phased out from doing the expansion.

2) I log in today, and the main capital where you previously could fly in, is retrospecively gated behind a PATHFINDER quest, which is a long arse quest to enable flight...
I have never bothered with the pathfinder quests because they are just stupid make work quests for a feature that should be basic.

So yeah, after years of playing #WOW, #Blizzard may have actually have gotten closer than ever to have me quit the game.
I could use the spare 137GB on my primary boot drive.

The biggest problem with the #MMRPG is that it was grown in a lab by one guy and ignores the past 30 years of #TTRPG lessons learned. Stunlock the badguy? Totally a thing. Surround and pound? Totally a thing. Cheese edge-stacking so you literally never have a chance to fail? Totally a thing.

As much as the fast-and-friendly system is easy to pick up and use, the system is just not robust.

They help Sentai finish the job and Crosshair and Sentai have a cordial (if not exactly the warmest) reunion. Sentai informs them that the robots he was fighting were minions of a larger cybernetic zombie-looking thing that went deeper into the sewer tunnels, so they give chase. 1/?
