World of Warcraft whine...
So I have been playing #Blizzards #Wow because #addiction
But when I said "play" I mean log in once in a while, join some LFG Raids, maybe run some instances on alts. If I am feeling particurarily masochistic, run a +Mythic.
But Blizzard is constantly hiring and firing people, and each new lead has to fucking impring their ideas on the game.
And so. In the new expansion;
1) They gated the expansion behind the last strory line. If you have not done all their stupid lore quests to admire their stupid 'content'. You are phased out from doing the expansion.2) I log in today, and the main capital where you previously could fly in, is retrospecively gated behind a PATHFINDER quest, which is a long arse quest to enable flight...
I have never bothered with the pathfinder quests because they are just stupid make work quests for a feature that should be basic.So yeah, after years of playing #WOW, #Blizzard may have actually have gotten closer than ever to have me quit the game.
I could use the spare 137GB on my primary boot drive.Wow, impressive.
Thank you Blizzard for looking after my welfare.File this under filthy casual tears.
P.S. Oh yeah, as I was going through my sceenshots... the bastards force name change my Ice Mage character "Frostitute", goddamned puritan cunts.

What happened with #TheWarWithin ? The first patch was great, engaging, dramatic, largely annoying gimmick free, good content for all kinds of player. Everything since hasn't been bad exactly, but a bit blah. I'm currently on a suspended subscription, paying for the odd month to catch up with gold, but unless the upcoming Midnight launch really grabs me I can see me bowing out for a while... #WorldOfWarcraft

I never really did Visions of N'Zoth back in BfA - IIRC they were gated with keys, and I wasn't up for the grind (plus I found them too hard for my gear level). I'm not sure if it is modern itemisation (yay - set bonuses for all!) or that the lack of keys means you can start filling out the bonuses tree earlier, but I'm actually rather enjoying them this time. Hard enough that I can't faceroll through them first time, but easy enough to progress. I've already managed to clear both corrupted areas and one of the lost areas in Orgrimmar... #WorldOfWarcraft #HorrificVIsions #TheWarWithin

[P] I mean, at the very least, this could be brought up in an interview. The sudden backslide after Blizzard promised so much that representation mattered is creepy and gross. I just can't trust any outlet that just doesn't care. And it seems like none of thrm do, which means I have no reason to trust any of them. I can only imagine the headlines if Ubisoft had pulled queer erasure. But Blizzard? Nah.

[P] There's a VERY awkward question to be asked about why Dragonflight is so inclusive, empowering, and diverse where TWW is the OPPOSITE of that! Why go from having lots of queer rep to absolutely none, to denying we exist? It feels vile. Why is no one asking Blizzard about that? Why is no one asking Metzen why he apparently hates gay people? Why is there so much media silence regarding TWW's issues?

[P] You shouldn't talk about this only when it's convenient, regarding companies everyone already hates. The backslide in WoW is worth investigating. I mean, princess tulanji didn't need white people to save Zandalar in Battle for Azeroth, so why must the not-exactly-white-coded (to put it lightly) nerubians need white people to save them from extinction in TWW? I'd expect this shit from classic WoW, bit not in 2024.

[P] It's a creepy backslide. We went from having non-binary heroes, disabled characters in empowered roles, and even gay couples that wrren't meant for the male-gaze to... well, TWW's "For the straight, white, regular lads!" mindset. Even Xal'atath's foot fetish shit (in SO MANY cutscenes) is just objectifying her for the male gaze. It's the modern equivalent of the chainmail bikini, it's gross. Why the backslide?

[P] It's just typical that the media has these glow8ng reviews of TWW without anyone touching on the strong vibes of sexism, racism, and queerphobia that game has. An irrational woman needing a cool-headed male handler to not go emotionally genocidal, white saviour BS out the wazoo, pushing straight hard while having ZERO queer (LGBTQIA+) characters (after Dragonflight was so inclusive). It's worth highlighting.

Delves have definitely got more managable for solo players with the hotfixes. They aren't a faceroll, but I was able to do a bountiful 5 yesterday (which upgraded one of my vault slots to Champion). I'll see if I can push up to level 8 this week... #WorldOfWarcraft #Delves #TheWarWithin
