  1. @grymas_tysiaclecia Ad.

  2. Every #SparkMail update adds AI features designed to avoid reading or writing email, while the Mac app gets slower and flakier as an actual email client. Might have to jump back to Mail.app until #MimeStream supports IMAP/JMAP (hopefully someday 🙏).

  3. One bummer about #MacOS now is that you used to be able to be pretty productive with the built in software. Now in order to get real work done, you need to pretty much immediately replace every default app. Safari, Mail, Photos, Pages, etc. Preview is still a rockstar but it’s sort of depressing.

#Mimestream or #Thunderbird is a far better email client. #Photomator is what you want for an easy to use but robust photo editing tool, leaving #Photos in the dust. BetterSnapTool for a better Split View, #IINA for watching videos, #Hazel for file management.

Still great hardware but the utility of the stock apps drops year over year.

  4. @viticci I'm always on the lookout for a better email client. I've been using #SparkMail for the last several years. Can't say I'm thrilled with some of the new "features" and I refuse to use the new interface. Maybe it's time to give #Mimestream a look.

  10. @ike More modern than #Gmail *and* everything else you’re looking for? That’s a tall order. #Thunderbird has a lot of it, including a markdown plugin, but has to fight against its old-school reputation. #MailMate is a utilitarian power-user’s client for MacOS, but it’s not free. #Mimestream is a trendy, slick native Mac Gmail client, but doesn’t support scheduled send, and it’s in beta with unknown pricing.

I used #Kiwi for a while, but always seem to end up back running Gmail in a browser.
