A brief tale: I found this great belt buckle sporting Sir Walter Raleigh’s face and realized I knew nothing about him. Looking him up, I learned he was beheaded and was then prompted with the most delightful question: What happened to his severed head? Well. Rumor has it, his head was embalmed and given to his widow Bess, who kept it in a red velvet purse until she died nearly 30 years later.
