#OTD On this day, #Tree number 5,000 was planted at #CityPark in #NewOrleans following the destruction of #Hurricane #Katrina.As a point of reference, tree #1 or the oldest tree in the #Park is likely the famed #McDonogh #Oak lovingly called the #Grandmother Tree by locals.
The 800-year-old Oak is supported by wooden #Crutches. The park's #OldGrowth #Forest has survived because it sits on #HighGround.
