A quotation from Nicolas Chamfort
Often an opinion, a custom, seems absurd when we are young, and advancing in life, we find the reason. Mustn’t we conclude that certain habits aren’t so ridiculous? One is lead to think sometimes that they were established by people who had read the entire book of life, and that they are judged by people who, despite their esprit, have only read a few pages.
Siniscalchi (1994)]Sourcing, notes, other translations: wist.info/chamfort-nicolas/770…

Growing up is a lot about breaking free from the rules and social expectations that was enforced on you by your parents and environment to keep to safe. Mostly to keep you safe. And finding in all this mess yourself. And the later you start the harder it is.

A quotation from James, P.D.:
«
Children live in occupied territory. The brave and the foolhardy openly rebel against authority, whether harsh or benign. But most tread warily, outwardly accommodating themselves to alien mores and edicts while living in secret their iconoclastic and subversive lives.

Actually excited to see what my hair will look like since deciding to leave hair coloring behind. Early indications suggest salt and pepper which may help to avoid stares. #Maturing

It took 36 years but I finally prefer myself with my natural curly hair over it being straighten.
Life is 20x more peaceful when you accept yourself.
I'd hated my hair having so volume forever, I always felt like it took up too much space.
But I said screwed it and chopped it off and I'm in love with all the volume!
