Als Antwort auf meinen Beitrag "Nur eine Karte" zeichnen bekam ich den Tipp, mir doch mal die Software mapshaper anzusehen. Das habe ich gemacht und werde euch hier zeigen, wie man damit noch bessere, sehr platzsparende Vektorkarten erstellen kann.

For those interest in such things, here (https://github.com/anisotropi4/jay) are a bundle of helper scripts that download dependencies and simplify all layers in a given projected GeoPackage geography file using #pygrio, @geopandas and #mapshaper.

Today I will be simplifying the British rail network. Although in this case it is literally that.
Using an extract of Open Street Map rail data, I will be applying mapshaper to simplify and snap line geometry.
