Is it just me or has #orcid single sign in for #manuscriptcentral been bordering on inoperable for the last year or so? Swapped browsers, cleared the cookies, etc. I usually get a swirling disk till I ... open the same window in a new tab ... then refresh the original tab and boom I am in?

I figured how to get out of reviewer assignments after nominally accepting:

@deevybee Let‘s start a #manuscriptcentral thread. By approximation I have more user names there than there are articles on PubMed.

Adding Web of Science support to #ManuscriptCentral has somehow made it even worse. With the vast profits being made by big publishers, can they not develop a system that actually works? 🤨 #academia #publishing

Fellow academics: are you able to use #manuscriptcentral to actually upload a manuscript?
In the best case scenario it's taken me a couple of hours to convince the online form to accept some version of my manuscript.
Currently, after i gave up after ~5 hours of trying to see why it wouldn't take my LaTeX files, I manually recreated the whole thing in Word. And I'm still getting "failed to convert" errors.
Am I alone in this?

So, I have two review assignments from two journals: one an #IEEE, the other an #ACM. Both journals are using the manuscriptcentral[dot]com platform.
The #ManuscriptCentral wants me to have separate accounts for each journal, although my username is the same university email address.
So, for the same website, the same user name (email address), I'm supposed to keep track of different passwords.
Why making things so complicated for volunteer reviewers?

Anno 2023: why is it necessary to make full new profile on #ManuscriptCentral or #EditorialManager for every single journal I am requested to review for?
Password retreival, entering affiliation, keywords, demographics.
Can we come up with a solutioin please? I'm starting to lose interest to do the reviews 😞
